She should check on her boy. Hopefully he was sleeping off whatever illness he had, but she’d feel better if she at least texted.

Addison:

Morning, baby. Kylie says you’re not feeling well. I’ll be by after class to check on you. In the meantime, get some rest and drink plenty of water.

That would have to do for now. Setting her worry for her babyboy aside, she headed to class, telling herself he’d be fine for an hour without her.

Danny

“Got you, fuck-face!”

Laughter came through his headset, followed by the deep rumble of Lucky’s voice. “Good job, kid.”

The praise, as it always did, filled his chest with warmth. He had no idea how much older the other guys in his game were, but they all treated him like a kid brother of sorts, which he didn’t hate. They’d found each other on an online forum for kink when he’d first been figuring out his own desires, and Lucky had been one of the first people he’d ever told about being a Little. Ever since then, Lucky and the other guys had basically taken him under their wing and he made it a point to play with them at least once a week.

Another voice joined the fray, just as deep but much sterner and less playful than Lucky’s. “Aren’t you supposed to be in class, kid?” Beast asked.

“Playing hooky.” And doing his best to ignore the pit of guilt in his stomach over it. There was no doubt in his mind his Mommy would be furious if she found out he wasn’t really sick and was just avoiding her.

“Uh-oh,” Lucky sing-songed, and even though they couldn’t see each other, Danny couldhearthe grin in his voice. “Someone needs a spanking.”

Heat rushed to Danny’s cheeks. “Shut up, Lucky.”

“He’s right, kid.” Ash, the third “Daddy” of the group spoke up, disappointment in his tone. “You shouldn’t be skipping classes unless you need to. Your education is important.”

“And yet, here you all are on Monday morning, too.”

“We’re on our lunch break,” Lucky reminded him. “East coast perks.”

Right. They were two hours ahead of him, and both Lucky and Beast worked from home with, as far as he could tell, wildly flexible schedules. He didn’t know exactly what Ash did, just that he was smart as fuck, and he wasn’t around as much as the others but he did pop in during the day from time to time.

“Yeah, well, if I wanted someone to ride my ass about missing class, I’d tell my—” The word “Mommy” froze on his tongue. Which was ridiculous, since they all knew he was Little and preferred women, but still. Actuallysayingthe word out loud to the strong, dominant guys on the other end of the phone was just… embarrassing.

“Everyone freeze!” Lucky yelled, excitement bubbling in his tone. “I think our boy got himself a Mommy.”

“Did you now?” Amusement wound around Beast’s voice. “And what is she going to say about you skipping class?”

“Nothing, because she’s never going to know I’m faking.”

A low whistle came through the headset. “Boy, you are just asking for trouble. If we ever get ourselves a babygirl, she wouldn’t sit for a week if she faked sick to get out of something.”

Unease coiled in his gut. “Really?”

“Absolutely,” Ash agreed. “That’s very naughty of you, SnackBreak.”

Somehow Ash managed to make Danny’s goofy gamer handle sound like a reprimand and he had to fight the urge to squirm in his chair even though they couldn’t see him. “Well, it’s not an issue because she’s never going to find out. It’s not like any of you are going to tattle on me.”

“No, but you should tell her yourself.” For once, Lucky’s voice held none of the humor Danny was used to hearing. He was all Daddy, and it had that funny feeling in Danny’s stomach growing worse with every word. “Faking sick is bad enough, but not coming clean on your own is even worse.”

He was right. And Danny knew he was right. “Yeah. Yeah, okay. Let’s finish this mission and then I’ll go tell her.”

As soon as the words left his lips, the heavy weight of his headphones disappeared. “Tell me what, Daniel James?”

Chapter Seventeen

Addison

She had nearly three hours of free time between classes, so after a quick check-in with her babygirl, she sent Kylie off to her next class and headed for the student dorms. Worry churned in her stomach the whole way—Danny hadn’t returned her text yet, or even read it. Hopefully that meant he was sleeping, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
