“Y’all are going to the club now? Should I…”

“No, Angel, this is just business tonight. You get some rest.” Dom slowly stood up and stretched. “I don’t want to share you with the club tonight. So, you go to bed like a good little Angel and we’ll see you in the morning.”

I saw a flash of challenge in her eyes but it was gone as quickly as it’d appeared. She nodded and smiled sweetly.

“Yes, Sir. Of course, Sir.”

That answer alone should’ve clued us in that she was planning something.

CHAPTER 51

Sutton

“You’re trying this again, huh? I recall it didn’t go so well for you last time.” Naomi grinned from where she was leaning against my doorframe. “You’re a lot braver than that cardigan makes you look.”

I pulled said cardigan tighter around me to hide the tiny lingerie I wore beneath it.

“Brave or stupid, it’s still to be seen.”

She reached out and squeezed my shoulder.

“Go get ’em. I don’t have to be anywhere until later tomorrow, so don’t rush back.”

“Thank you, Naomi.” I grabbed my tote bag and shoved the camera and tablet inside. Then I hesitated before looking back at her. “Hey, would you want to hang out this weekend? If you’re not busy, I mean.”

“I’d like that.” Rolling her eyes, she slowly backed away. “Go on. Have fun.”

I stayed in my flats so I could run through the woods. I knew I only had a small window of time before Theo saw I’d turned my camera off and came looking for me. As soon as I got outside, I took off in a sprint. I didn’t give myself time to be worried about the darkness or someone, namely Charlie or Theo, jumping out and scaring the heck out of me. I just full-out sprinted for the club for all I was worth. I had to get to Dominic’s office and set up the camera for Theo before he lost it.

The guard at the door saw me coming and immediately gripped his head and groaned.

“Come on, Ms. Sutton! You’re killing me. If I let you in, I’m likely to get murdered. If I make you stay out here, I’m likely to get murdered. Making you walk home in the dark? Murdered!”

I grabbed his arm and smiled.

“I promise I won’t let them act up. I have a surprise for them. And here. I made you cookies.”

He looked at the bag I’d pulled out of my tote.

“You want to bribe me with cookies when the consequences could be death by Theo?”

I smiled even wider and batted my eyes.

“Please. Pretty, pretty please.”

He opened the bag and smelled the cookies.

“Fine. But I’ll have someone walk you straight to Dominic’s office. You’re not to go anywhere else until the bosses clear it.”

“What’s your name? I’ll make sure to put in a good word for you.” I almost laughed when he shook his head and backed up a step.

“No, ma’am! I don’t want them to get the wrong idea. The bosses are possessive men when it comes to you. Even hearing another man’s name could make them come looking for trouble.” He pulled a cookie out and sank his teeth into it. “Oh, wow. This is delicious.”

I motioned to the door.

“Come on. I’m on a time schedule here. If Theo checked the cameras and—”

“In you go. We don’t need him going on a rampage to find you.”
