“I won’t. Scoot over.” I gasped when he grabbed my hips and picked me up to put me down on the other side of the bed. “What are you doing?”

“You sleep on the inside.” He curled his body around mine and held me tight. “Could you ever love a monster like me, Sutton?”

I twisted around so I could face him and cupped his face.

“You’re not a monster, Theo. And the answer to that is yes, of course, I could love you. Idolove you.”

My stomach twisted when I caught the way his eyes watered. He was hurting in ways I could only imagine. I didn’t want to think of what he’d been through or what he’d had to do to keep the family safe but it was clear he paid a hefty price for it.

“Just sleep, Theo. I’ll hold you.”

CHAPTER 49

Sutton

“Oh, my god! That’s the biggest pile of shit I’ve ever seen!” Charlie covered her mouth and nose and then gagged. “Is Killer sick? Why does it smell like that?”

“It’s because you kept sneaking him human food. This is your fault, kid.” I fought back a gag. “Also, language.”

“You snuck him human food, too!” She put her hands on her hips and raised a single eyebrow at me. “I saw you. We all saw you!”

Dominic walked closer, or as close as he’d dare come with the poop smell stretching out far and wide.

“Right again, Charlie. We all saw Angel sneaking bites of bacon to Killer.”

I pouted at him and wiggled my fingers around the poop bag I was preparing myself to use.

“You’re all traitors.”

“Sullie’s gonna play in poo!” Lee giggled wildly from where she clung to Leon’s neck, kicking her legs back and forth.

“I don’t remember agreeing to be the poop lady.” I inched closer to the massive,Jurassic Parksized poop and seriously questioned my life choices. “I think I might need to quit.”

Theo appeared from nowhere, looking a million times better than he had the night before, and took the poop bag from me. He kissed the tip of my nose and winked.

“Don’t even think of going anywhere.”

Killer leaned against my hip and sighed like he was put out by all the poop talk. I absently patted the top of his head while thanking all the stars in the sky that Theo was taking over picking up the poop.

“I didn’t think I could love you more than I already did and then you go and pick up the poop for me. I think I’m going to swoon now.”

Ollie squealed while trying to climb my leg.

“You love Theo!”

“Of course she loves Theo! They’re going to get married!” Charlie grabbed my hand and gripped it tight. “She’s going to be my mom. And maybe I’ll have a little brother or sister. Or maybe we’ll get a cat. I’m not sure I want a little brother or sister. Neither of you are my favorite.”

I didn’t know where to start with handling Charlie’s announcement. I sucked in a sharp breath and felt my face turn bright red but when I moved my lips no sound came out.

Leon didn’t seem to have the same issue.

“Maybe she’ll marry me instead. I’m a catch.”

Dominic snorted.

“Have you seen my face? She’d be a fool to pick one of you two over me.”

Theo held up the bag of poop and sighed. “Well, she loves me. So…sorry, chumps.”
