I pulled her into my chest and breathed in the sweet almond scent that never seemed to fade.

“Are you hurt anywhere else?”

“I’m okay. We’re all okay. One of us just has some questions he needs to answer about his crappy taste in wives.” She let Dom pull her close and thumped him on the forehead. “What were you thinking?”

Theo saved Dom from having to answer by growling at his phone.

“She hit you.”

“Keep watching. It gets better.”

Dom and I leaned over to watch the footage and I found myself equally enraged and turned on. Seeing Sutton terrified and hurt made me see red but when her fear shifted to fury and she fought Dom’s ex-wife like she was prepared to kill her, it was hot. I’d never been more sure that I loved her than I watched her pick up a child’s toy bat and knock the crazy bitch out with it.

“And then this is the part we’re going to have to talk about later.” Sutton nodded to the screen and crossed her arms. “Why the heck was Charlie so prepared and knowledgeable about tying someone up? She had handcuffs on standby.”

I was speechless as we watched the rag tag team of two work together, with Charlie being the supervisor, to bind Hannah and drag her away.

“Watching it back makes it look like aThree Stoogesepisode. Remind me to get more self-defense training. And to maybe take a course on binding villains after defeating them. I’ll just take whichever one Charlie took.”

“Jesus.” Dom rubbed his temples and paced. “I’ll never be able to get that out of my head. She could’ve killed you, Angel. She could’ve killed you and stolen Ollie. And you’re joking likenothing even happened. Are you in shock? Should I call the doctor—”

“I’m not in shock, Dominic. I’m actually okay. The kids are okay. And I think we get to keep Killer because crazy, psycho attempted kidnappers don’t get to keep precious dogs like this one.” The dog in question stared up at her like she was his goddess and I fucking got it. I felt the same way.

“You took her to the pool house.” Theo didn’t hesitate. He turned and started marching towards the back of the house. “I can’t wait to ask her what exactly her intentions were today.”

CHAPTER 47

Sutton

“Oh, boy.” I tried to hurry after Theo but Dominic caught my hand and stopped me. “Hey, I caught her. I should be able to be there when he questions her about why the heck she thought coming here was a good idea!”

“You don’t want to see this side of him, Kitten.” Leon frowned after Theo and shook his head. “He’s too far gone for you to be around him right now. He wouldn’t want you to see him right now.”

I tugged away from Dominic and frowned at them both.

“I trust Theo. I’m not scared of him or whatever dark side he has hiding inside. I’m going.”

“Fine.” Dom motioned for me to follow Theo. “You asked for this.”

Killer stayed behind with the kids and two guards who’d been hovering close by. I charged out the house and caught up with Theo at the duct taped door. He was staring at all the tape with his hands on his hips and a smirk on his mouth.

He glanced back at me and raised his eyebrows.

“It’s crude but it got the job done. I’m proud of you, Angel.”

I blushed and looked down at my shoes.

“It was Charlie again. I was pretty much useless.”

Loud screaming came from inside the room, followed by a lot of cursing.

“Let me out of here, you little bitch! I’ll fucking kill you!”

I winced. “I don’t think she likes me very much.”

“Go back to the house, Sutton.” Theo’s face had gone hard. “I don’t want you here for this next part.”

“I can—”
