Leon stalked into the kitchen and grunted a good morning before scooping Lee up and taking over feeding her.
“You look pretty today, Kitten.”
He’d never said anything like that to me. The words didn’t even sound right coming from him. They were awkward and stilted. I ignored the kids giggling and whatever Leon was trying to do. It seemed like that was going to be my normal. Ignore, ignore, ignore.
“Sutton.” Dominic softened his voice and tried again. “We need to talk. Please.”
I hummed and pretended like I was thinking it over.
“Sorry, Mr. Dominic. I’m all booked up today. Alright, kids. Since we’re staying here today, we’re going to get started with a morning swim.”
Lee was suddenly much happier.
“Swimming with Button!”
I didn’t have to force my laugh when all three kids instantly transformed into excited little angels, all ready to do whatever it took to get to the pool.
“We’re going to have to go on a treasure hunt to find our pool supplies first, though. I have to go find the treasure maps. Think y’all can finish your breakfast and keep the grown-ups in hereand busy? I heard a rumor that if you let a dad or uncle sneak a peek at your treasure map the treasure won’t be as cool.”
“Wait a second, Sutton.” Dominic followed me out of the kitchen and gripped the back of my neck, forcing me to look up at him. The hold still made my body melt but I kept my arms crossed and face blank.
“I’m not going to let you put up this wall between us. You’re going to talk to me.”
“There’s nothing to say, Mr. Dominic. I was confused about some things but you cleared everything up for me. Thank you for that. Now, I really do have to get their treasure maps.”
His hand tightened.
“Nothing’s changed. You’re going to the club with us. You’re not going to be able to shut me out forever.”
I twisted my mouth into a polite smile.
“I don’t know why you’re making such a big deal about this. If you need someone on your arm at the club, call Lauren. She’s beautiful and you two looked great together.”
He leaned in close.
“I’m going to ignore this attitude because I know I hurt your feelings. You—”
“Ignore the attitude and everything else about me. I’m not who you want.” I jerked away from him and nodded. “Have a good day at work, Mr. Dominic.”
CHAPTER 33
Dominic
Maybe it was fucked up for me to demand she come back to the club that night. It was hard to feel bad when she showed up in her tiny skirt and tight shirt, though. Theo and Leon walked on either side of her and I could tell by the tension on their faces that things weren’t any better with Sutton.
I respected Sutton’s tenacity and her strength but I needed to break her so she’d realize she needed me, so she’d fucking listen. People listened to me and did what I wanted. That was how shit worked. A sweet little virgin wasn’t going to come in and change things. She’d fall in line. One way or another.
She was stiff as she stood by the table and waited for me to get up like I normally did. When I didn’t budge she lifted her eyes to mine and frowned.
“Should I sit somewhere else?”
I smiled.
“I want you kneeling between my legs, Kitten.”
Emotion flashed across her face but she didn’t let it out. She reined it all in and dropped to her knees. Leon and Theo were both glaring at me but they couldn’t hide the hunger in their eyes as they shifted to watch Sutton crawl under the table to sit between my feet.
“Rest your head on my thigh, pet. You’ll be watching the show from right there tonight.” I reached down and stroked her hair, using any excuse to touch her.
