She’d like to?

I can show her anything she wants to see. We don’t need this man involved.

“Oh well, if you’d like to?—”

I grab the papers from the counter and basically shove them in front of him.

“Can you check these out, James?Ms. Larsonreminded me on our arrival that she’s in a hurry to get back to the office.”

James tears his eyes off Delaney to meet my gaze. He watches me for just a hair too long before he gives me a perfunctory smile.

“Sure thing. Give me a few minutes, and I’ll see if we can get this signed off.” He takes the papers from me and walks away, tossing a flirty smile Delaney’s way before he does. I assume he’s gone to his office.

Susie leaves the counter to pick up a ringing phone a few desks away, and I step back several feet. Delaney follows.

“What the hell was that about?” she whisper-yells. Her glare is so fierce, it only makes me want her more. Whoa, hold up. That can’t be right, can it?

Shit. I want her.

I’ve been jealous the entire time she’s been working for us whenever any dickhead is at her desk, flirting with her. There have been many, including Holden. Now I’m jealous that she showed a bit of interest in James.

“Harrison? I asked you a question.”

When I don’t return my attention to her quickly enough, she pinches me. Fucking pinches me, right on my left tricep. It gets my attention back on her, for sure.

“Ow! What was that for?” I rub at the sore spot and watch as Delaney crosses her arms over her chest.

If she’s trying to get me to focus on her face, that’s the wrong move. Her pose pushes her breasts up and draws my focus right to them. God, they’re perfect. I remember how soft they were as I planted kisses on them that night, a few months ago. How her hard nipple felt against my tongue…

I force the thoughts away, or I’ll get lost in them, and I certainly don’t want to feel her wrath again.

“What? He was flirting with you. It was unprofessional.” I work hard to keep my voice even so that I won’t expose my true feelings.

Delaney shakes her head and rolls her eyes.

“Unprofessional, really? On whose part, mine or his?”

I don’t miss the sarcasm in her voice. One would think I’d be smart enough not to take the bait. They’d be wrong.

“Both.” Yep, I sound like a royal asshole.

She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and opens them again. I assume she’s prepping her comeback, but she moves, increasing the space between us, and turns to watch a young couple who have arrived and are talking to Susie.

Okay. Maybe she’s more mature than I am. I close the distance between us and stand shoulder to shoulder with her. I focus my stare on the couple as well.

“He held onto your hand too long.” My voice is hushed. “It was inappropriate of him.”

Nothing. She ignores me. I spin to face her.

“He was flirting with you. Right in front of me.”

Her shoulders tense, but she still says nothing. She doesn’t look at me.

“He was about to ask you out and?—”

She whips her head to face me, her eyes wide.

“No, he wasn’t. Don’t be absurd.” Her words are full of incredulity.
