Gross.

I don’t even grace him with a response. It’s a waste of my breath. We fall into silence for a while, just the sounds of cutlery hitting plates as we eat.

I look back to Levi, tilting my head. “So… Did you want to talk about what happened today?”

His eyes snap up before narrowing. “What happened?” He asks, feigning innocence.

So, this is how he’s going to play it?

“Oh… Nothing. It just seemed like you really wanted to kiss me.” I say with a sweet grin on my face.

His jaw clenches. I love getting under his skin like this. He makes it too easy.

“It just really seems like you wanted me to.” He snaps back, his face flushing red.

“Aw, Levi, honey. Are you embarrassed?” I tease.

His nostrils flare. I’m quite surprised there’s no steam coming out of his ears.

“Don’t make things weird, Princess.” He grits out, his fists clenched on the table.

I sigh. “I think you’re just frustrated because you want to hate me so bad, but you can’t.”

He pauses for a second, a weird look crossing his face before taking a sip of beer and eating his food.

I decide to relent and continue eating.

It’s another few minutes before he speaks. Through a mouthful of food. Again.

Has this man never been house trained?

“There’s a fair in town this week. I’m going to go tomorrow.” He mumbles without looking up.

I’m getting agitated now. “Levi.” I snap, “Swallow before you speak.”

He jolts backward, shocked.

I get back to the topic of the fair.

“Oh, cool. What kind of fair?” I’m still new to America. I want to get out more.

“An amusement fair. You know, kids running around, rides. It’ll get me out of the house for a while.”

I nod slowly. A fair could be cool actually.

I don’t get a chance to respond before Levi is up and out of his seat, walking to the kitchen to rinse his bowl before moving up the stairs.

“Alright. I’m off to bed. See you later.” His voice drifts down the hall. My eyes track him until he’s out of sight. Or tracking his ass, I should say.

Seriously, what exercises do hockey players do to get glutes like that?

I sigh to myself before moving to the kitchen to clean up. This back and forth with him is driving me insane.

I’ve also never been this worked up in my life. Of course, it’s this particular man that does the trick.
