My mouth drops open, “Dude, you cannot be serious. I don’t believe that for a second.” I look back down to my beer.Fuck my life. Fuck this, I’m out of here. That’s enough fuckery for one night, I’ll say.
Pulling out my wallet, I toss a couple twenty-dollar bills on the bar. “I’m out, boys. I’ve had enough for one night.” I grab each of their shoulders on the way out, they stare at me dumbfounded as I walk toward the door.
I catch Scarlett’s eye on the way through, giving her my signature smirk, and a wink to go along with it. Her eyebrows pull together slightly as she watches, almost like she is trying to figure me out. I’m sure I leave too quick for her to get a read on me, though.
Stepping out into the brisk air, I take a deep breath.Coach, what have you done?
CHAPTER NINE
LEVI
It’s already midday by the time I wake up. I feel rough after last night.
Checking my phone, it’s blown up overnight with texts from my teammates and Gigi, though, my attention snags on a message from ‘Princess’.
I roll my eyes but open the message, not wanting to deal with the fall out for ignoring her.
Princess
Should I expect to see you today, Carter?
Me
It’s not like I have any other choice.
Princess
On time?
Me
Don’t push it.
I get out of bed, chucking my phone onto the mattress before walking across the polished wood floor to my bathroom, to have a shower. The tiles are cold against my feet as I turn the nozzle, setting the temperature to a nice lukewarm – my favourite.
Stripping down, I step underneath the spray and let the water wash over me – hopefully taking my foul attitude with it. Things just keep going from bad to worse. Injuring my shoulder was bad, but having to do Pilates makes it so much harder to be in the right mindset to get better.
Once I’m done, I step out of the shower, grabbing the towel from the rack and wrapping it around my waist. Walking out to my closet, I pick out a white t-shirt and a pair of black sports shorts to wear.
I check the time again: twelve-thirty. I let out a small sigh as I get dressed before heading out to grab some white sneakers to put on as well.
The elevator takes me down to my Porsche 911 in the parking garage. She’s my pride and joy if I'm being honest.
The engine roars to life, beneath me, purring rhythmically. Shit. It’s now quarter to one, and it takes me at least twenty minutes to get there. Oh well. She has no choice but to wait for me.
…
I walk into Reform Method… I check my watch and… Only six minutes late.Slight improvement on last time so she should be grateful. After all, I’d rather be anywhere but here.
The subtle trace of Eucalyptus permeates the air as I take a deep breath and scan the room. Holy fuck. My eyes lock onto Scarlett, well… her ass anyway… as she’s bent over the machine.
Dressed in a light pink set with a little white cardigan, she looks delectable. Those leggings complimenting her extremelytoned ass, I can’t look away. That is, until she stands and turns around, my eyes shoot up, locking with hers as a small smirk appears on her face.
“Levi, nice of you to finally grace me with your presence,” she starts. “You ready to try using that core again?”
And just like that, my mood is ruined. All thoughts of her ass forgotten.
“Maybe I wouldn’t have fallen, had I had a more attentive instructor,” I drawl, sauntering toward the reformer.
