“And we will get them back,” Dev said.

“Do you have an address for Breel or Lavigne? Anything that will help us know where they may have gone with Maddie and Samantha?” Eden asked. “Anywhere we can start searching for them?”

“The Blanchets have been lodging at a small house in Langton Street,” Mr. Brown said. “As yet we have been unable to locate Mr. Breel’s lodgings.”

“Arm yourselves and then meet at Dev’s house,” James said. “We start there.”

“Thank you, Gabe.” James shook the earl’s hand. “We will take it from here, as there are plenty of us. I would ask another favor.”

“Anything.”

“Help get all these people out of my house without them realizing what is going on.”

“I can do that and will enlist the help of my brothers.”

“A few of us must stay, or it will seem odd if we all disappear,” Rose said from the doorway. “Bring my sisters back to me.”

“We will, love.” Wolf hugged her hard.

“Mr. Brown will go with you in case you need him,” Mr. Spriggot said. “I will bid you all good evening and good luck.”

What felt like hours later, Warwick was mounted with a pistol in his waistband and a knife strapped to his calf. To his left was Eden and Cam, and to his right Dev. Behind them rode the other members of their family. They galloped as fast as they were able through the streets. The thunder of hooves had anyone in front of them moving out of their way.

“Is it love, little brother?” Dev’s green eyes were vibrant as he navigated through the streets, searching for danger or anything that would slow them down.

“Aye.”

“About time you two came to your senses,” Eden said.

When they arrived at Langton Street, everyone but Dev, Harry, Eden, and Warwick stayed on their horses. A few lamps and candles lit rooms in the tall house as they approached the front door.

Dev knocked.

“Good evening,” he said when it was opened by a woman. Tall and slim with a fierce frown, she did not look impressed to be disturbed at such an hour.

“Is Mr. Blanchet at home this evening?” Dev asked.

“He’s not, and neither is that mouthy sister of his.”

“I’ll get right to the matter at hand then,” Dev said, pulling money out of his pocket. “We believe both Blanchet and his sister have stolen something of ours, and we want it back. To find them and our stolen possessions, we need to search his rooms if you will allow it, Mrs.—?”

“Finagle.”

“Finagle.” Dev held out the money in his hand. “Will you allow us to do that?”

She looked at the money and then at the people before her. Her eyes then went to those on horseback behind them. All wore fierce expressions.

“Very well. But no destruction, mind. I won’t have my Arnold having to repair things after you’ve left.”

“We will leave it as we find it, Mrs. Finagle,” Eden said, smiling.

The woman blinked, and if he’d had one in him Warwick would have snorted. Eden’s smile could get most people who weren’t family to do as she wished.

Mrs. Finagle opened the door wider. “I’ll get you the key. Up the stairs, third room on the right.”

They entered the small room minutes later with a lamp that they’d been handed. Two beds and a screen were in one corner. It was neat, clothes stacked on a chair.

They searched for anything that would tell them where Samantha and Maddie had been taken. Anything to get them back.
