“Another one?”

Damn!He loved the hopeful tone in her voice.

“Well, yes, actually, now that you mention it.”

“Oh, I get it.” She nodded against his chest. “I need to build up a tolerance through multiple exposures.”

Elias laughed.Dammit, Wren won again. And to prove the point, she licked her fingertip and drew a tick mark in the air.

“Are we tied now?”

There went that adorable head tilt. “You’re keeping score too?”

“Of course.”

“No you’re not. Because if you were, you’d know I’m ahead of you.”

“I don’t think so.”

“You don’t believe me?”

“Nope.” He popped the ‘P’ and grinned.

“Wow, so cocky.”

“We could start over and keep an official count.”

“Oh, that totally means I’m ahead of you.”

Elias’ growl turned into an unexpected laugh as he rolled Wren over onto her back.

“Ha! Now I’m ever further ahead—” He cut her off with a kiss.

“Mmm,” she said when he finally let her come up for air. “I think I’m leaving my body again.”

“Yeah, you definitely need more spectacular orgasms.”

“What if I have too many too soon and can’t get back into my body?”

Elias’ heart sped up as he made a decision. He rolled to his side and propped himself up on one elbow so he could judge Wren’s reaction. “There’s a cure for that too.”

“Oh?”

“A big, hearty breakfast, which I should prepare for you first thing tomorrow.”

Her eyes widened momentarily—her tell, he was learning—before she regained her composure.

“Let’s try the multiple exposure cure in the meantime, shall we?”

Elias woketo his alarm going off at the crack of dawn. Dammit, he’d forgotten to turn it off yesterday. He hit the snooze button and the night before came back to him. Smiling as he thought about making breakfast, he started to apologize to Wren for waking her when he realized he was alone in bed.

He sat up quickly and looked toward the en suite bathroom door. It was open, and Wren wasn’t in there. His heart sped up with something akin to dread, just like it had the night before.

What the hell, man? Get a grip.

Maybe she was in search of coffee in the kitchen.

Elias got out of bed and pulled on a pair of boxer briefs before making his way down the hall. He smelled coffee brewing from his automatic coffeemaker. Maybe she was sitting at the table drinking a mug of it, not wanting to wake him up so early. He listened for any sounds, but all he could hear were the pups restless in their room. He’d find Wren first and give her a nice, long kiss before inflicting the terrible two on her.
