Slowly, achingly slowly, he inserted a finger into her and groaned as she tightened around him.
“Imagine how good I’m going to makeyoufeel,” she said.
He chuckled. Oh, he could imagine that, very easily. He slipped another finger inside her and found the delicate nubbin that paired so well with her clit. As he rubbed softly and slowly, then increased his speed and pressure, Arden gripped the arm of the couch over her head and moaned.
“Come on, baby. Let it go. Give it to me.”
“I’ll come apart,” she said.
“And I’ve got you when you do. Trust me.”
A few more strokes, harder now, and Arden’s body went stiff as she held her breath. He felt her pulsing around his fingers as she gasped, then cried out his name. Tears slipped down her cheeks. He gave her gentle touches again, careful not to overstimulate her sensitive clit after her orgasm. Kyle had plenty more to give.
Arden blinked rapidly as she opened her eyes. Kyle covered her body with his and wrapped her up tightly in his arms just as she started to shiver. He threw a blanket over them.
“See? I’ve got you.”
Fifteen
I’ve got you.
And he did—Kyle held Arden tightly while her heart beat and the fire burned and the snow fell and the stars wheeled in the sky and he did not let her fall apart.
“Maybe I fell apart a little,” she murmured against the velvet of his beard.
He chuckled and rubbed his cheek against her, drying the last of her tears. “Was it so bad?”
“Terrible. Awful. Can we do it again?”
“Baby, we can do it all night.”
Arden found his mouth. She hungrily licked at his lips, tasting her own skin on them. “Next time,” she whispered, “I want you inside me.”
Kyle groaned and shifted her until her belly pressed against his hardness. She felt the small damp spot on his briefs where his precum had soaked through. Time for The Talk. “Just so you know, I’m on birth control, and I haven’t been with anyone for…” She blushed. “For almost two years. Oh, God.” She dissolved into an embarrassed laugh. “I’m sure it hasn’t been that long for you.”
“Actually, we’re about matched.”
Impossible. “Seriously?” Arden sat up a little. “But, you’re gorgeous.”
Kyle scoffed. “And you’re gorgeous, too.”
“No, really. I figured you probably joined the Mile High Club with a flight attendant or your seatmate on your flight here.”
It was Kyle’s turn to laugh. “Yeah, I mostly ignored the flight attendants and I don’t think my seatmate would have appreciated me hitting on him.”
Arden tried to wrap her head around that, even as she giggled. “So. Um. I think maybe we can forgo the protection?”
“We’ll have to since I didn’t exactly bring anything.” He looked deeply into her eyes. “I wasn’t expecting to find someone as perfect as you. Someone I can’t believe I’ve just met, because it feels like I’ve known you forever.” He touched his fingers to her lips. “And before you can turn that into a self-deprecating joke, I mean it in the best way. I dated a little but I haven’t slept with anyone in two years because no one could make me smile or laugh or feel normal the way you do. Goddamn, and you did it in just a couple of days.”
God, he was destroying her again. “I can say the same thing. Hell, Danny’s dad has hinted at dating, but he’s not the one for me.” The flicker of jealousy flared in Kyle’s eyes. “I haven’t even considered the possibility of seeing someone because I’ve been so busy.”So busy running away from my pain, she thought. “And then this sweet, sexy, dog-loving doof lands on my doorstep.”
Kyle looked around. “Where is he? I’ll chase him off.”
Arden laughed again. “Don’t youdare. I’d like to keep him.” The words were out before she could stop them. But damn, did she mean them.
His eyes softened. He brushed back a lock of hair from her face. “There you go collecting strays again.”
“Strays are my weakness. Funny how this one makes me feel strong.”
