My lips press to her ear, and I decide to take a leap of faith.

“There’s someone who wants to speak to you. I need you to remain very calm. Act like we’re just chatting, okay?” I ask softly.

Her brows knit together, but she nods as I push an extra comm unit into her ear.

“Sy, say something. She can hear you,” Kyren breathes.

“Hey, baby sister,”he says. “I’ve been looking for you for a really long time. I’m so sorry I’m late, May. These men are part of my pack, and the man you gave the heels to earlier is my omega. We’re getting you out of there. Is there anything we need to know before we do that?”

Genevieve is as still as a statue as she hears her brother’s voice. I can say whatever the fuck I want, but Syrus’ voice can’t be faked. The beta’s tone and cadence are uniquely his.

A single tear rolls down her cheek, and she forces herself to take a breath.

“There are more guards beginning at midnight. It’s when the other owners come in,” she whispers. “It would be best to leave before then.”

“You got it,”Syrus says. “I’ll see you soon. Do what Harlan and Kyren ask, okay?”

She nods though he can’t see it, and I decide to leave the comm in her ear.

“Thanks, Sy,” I murmur. “Izzy, we’re moving in the next ten minutes. Our exit is out back.”

“Good. I’m going on a side quest. See you outside,” Izzy grunts.

“I have a feeling your boss is going to die,” I tell Maeve.

“He’s awful,” she says, shuddering.

“Where does this hallway lead?” Kyren asks, leaning forward. “I need to make sure we have a good path out.”

“It goes in a loop,” Maeve says quickly. “There’s usually one guard at the exit back there. His name is Lars, and his job is to make sure no one slips out without paying.”

“He’s going to find himself in early retirement,” I smirk. “Anything else?”

“More people are filling the club now. Several guys grabbed my hand as I was walking to the room. Judy is going to be too busy to check on us for a while. I’m usually booked out for forty minutes at a time,” she says with a delicate shudder.

“That works in our favor. Anything else?” I ask.

“I don’t think so,” she says, shaking her head. “We have a limited window, but this is as good a time as any.”

“It’s pretty cold outside,” I sigh. “We’re going to get you into the car as quickly as possible. I have clothes you can dress in that’ll be warmer. Until then?—”

“The robe is fine,” she interrupts me. “The only reason Judy gave it to me is because you’re new and she thought you’d like the virginal color.”

“Okay. Let’s get moving,” I say, helping her stand. The couch is very low, and it’s not the easiest thing to get up from.

Kyren and I follow her, and she walks quickly to the door. Her hand trembles as she reaches for the handle, and I still her movement.

“If anyone asks, you’re showing us to the restroom,” I explain. “I didn’t see one in here.”

This room is very bare bones, with a couch and a pole for her to dance. There’s nothing else.

“Take a deep breath, Maeve,” Kyren says, making her gasp.

“I haven’t heard that name in a long time,” she rasps. “I’ve missed it. I can do this.”

“If anything happens, we’re prepared to fight our way out,” I explain.

Standing taller, she opens the door and sticks her head out to check the hallway before taking a right to take us deeper into the building.
