“Phillip, let me know when the money is through,” Gideon barks out. The power in his voice makes my blood run cold. There’s no humanity inside of this man.
“It’s done, Boss.”
The sound of the gunshot is loud and I can’t help the yelp of surprise that escapes me as the alpha in the chair in front of Gideon slumps down. It would almost seem as if he’s sleeping, if it wasn’t for the hole in his fucking face.
“I changed my mind,” Gideon says simply, shrugging as if the loss of life means nothing to him. I suppose it doesn’t when he still got his money.
Time feels as if it’s spiraling before the grate beneath my body shakes and is yanked down. Screaming as gravity takes over and I feel myself fall, I hit the ground hard.
Fuck!
A man stands over me with a hook in his hand, and the space my body was previously in is now empty. The vent is hanging open, and I’m officially fucked.
Pushing myself up to sit, I swallow hard.
“Silva!”Kyren hisses in my ear. I pretend not to hear him as my mask is yanked off my head, and have to hope that my hair is covering my ears even though it’s up. “I’m coming. This is going to sound odd, but under no circumstances should you take your shoes off. I’m putting the tracker in your ass next time, Princess. You’re in so much fucking trouble.”
“We have an interloper,” Gideon snarls, coming over to pinch my chin and shove my head up.
My hand is already on my firearm behind my hip. At the angle I fell, it appears as if I’m hurt. I’m biding my time instead. There’s one guard in this room with a gun. I can see better now that I’m on the ground, and there are currently five alphas sitting around as if this is business as usual.
Since only six omegas are sold at a time, this means that Gideon will either allow them to also buy Valentina, or he’ll open the floor to one of the alphas that were closest in their bid for her.
Maybe that’s why so many people are chilling and smoking cigars. This could be his standard way of doing business for all I know.
However, none of that matters, not right now.
I’m not paying attention to any of the alphas in the room that are pandering to Gideon. I’m not worried about the possibility of missing guards, or if there are more people waiting to speak to Gideon in another room.
His time is not my concern either.
The guard is the person I’m focused on. He has the machine gun, and I’m less likely to live if he pumps my body full of bullets. It’s also obvious that it’s normal for gunshots to be fired in this room, which gives me a chance to fight back before my pack can find me.
Our guns aren’t fancy, and we don’t have silencers.I’ll need to complain to management about this.I’m thoroughly disassociating at this point, and it’s the only thing keeping me oddly calm.
Gideon will want to hurt me before he kills me. It’s just a feeling I have. He’s a predator who enjoys playing with his food, and I’m unfortunately well acquainted with those types of men.
I won’t ever be prey again. I’m not the Doll I was the last time I was inside this mansion, and he’s going to realize his mistake now. Pulling my gun, I lift my arm and take my shot.
Find me!
Chapter Thirty
Isidro
Getting inside the mansion after ditching my backpack in a bush once I changed into my tux was child’s play. I know Harlan or Kyren can easily find it for me later if needed so that’s not a concern, but I do not suggest changing outside while it’s snowing.
It sucks and my balls might be frozen, but it got the job done and the cars aren’t drivable. Ironically, the alarms weren’t engaged on any of these vehicles either because they were all valeted and the estate is locked down.
Only an idiot would tamper with them, right?
Meet the idiot, because I removed the spark plugs from every car that I could. There were a few hybrid and electric vehicles, and those were the ones that my knife sunk into the tires.
The spark plugs are thrown into the snow by the gardens, and no one is fucking going anywhere.
The sound of a gunshot hits my ears through the comm as I walk, and it’s Silva’s scream after that alerts me she's in trouble while I walk through the mansion to see where I’m most needed. No one around me says a word to me as I pretend to stroll through the rooms of the mansion. I’m dressed the part of those in the estate, and there’s no reason to think I’m not one of them.
I’m also following a trail my girl doesn’t know she’s giving me. My location app puts Silva in Gideon’s library, and that’s where I’m headed. Thank god they all have tracking devices in their shoes, or this would be much more difficult.
