“What is it?” he called out sharply.
The door opened slightly, and a security guard stepped inside, glancing between Magnus and Gregory before speaking carefully.
“Sir… there is a man outside who wants to see you. He said his name is Jerry Thompson. He is insisting that he has something very important to discuss with you.”
Magnus’s eyes darkened.
“We declined him several times,” the guard continued nervously. “We informed him he’s not allowed right now and only during office hours. But he refused to leave. He keeps insisting… and he’s begging to meet you.”
Silence filled the room.
Gregory slowly straightened.
Magnus’s expression turned deathly dark.
“Let him in,” Magnus said coldly, irritation thick in his voice.
The security guard bowed slightly in respect before turning and walking out of the office. The door shut softly behind him.
A few minutes later, heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway. They stopped outside the door.
Then a knock.
“Come in,” Gregory called out calmly.
The door opened.
Jerry stepped inside.
The moment he entered, he hurried toward Magnus, forcing a smile onto his tense face. Sweat glistened faintly along his temple despite the cool air in the room.
“Mr. Graves,” Jerry said, stretching out his hand slightly. “How are you?”
Magnus didn’t return the smile.
He simply stared coldly.
The smile on Jerry’s face faltered.
“What is it?” Magnus asked flatly.
Jerry cleared his throat, lowering his hand awkwardly. “It’s about the deal. I believe we can still—”
Before he could finish, Magnus snatched the stack of documents and hurled them at his face.
The papers struck him hard, then burst apart, pages scattering across the polished wooden floor.
Jerry flinched.
“You really think I’m going to keep playing this stupid fucking game with you?” Magnus asked, one brow lifting. His face stayed blank, cold as ice.
Jerry swallowed, his throat bobbing.
“I gave you one chance,” Magnus continued, leaning forward slightly, his eyes turning darker. “I told you clearly—if you wanted to sign the deal, you had to come personally. Today. But what did you do?”
A beat of suffocating silence passed.
Jerry’s face turned pale.
