His lips curved into a slow, sexy grin I couldn’t resist. “Like? Girl…you look like trouble wrapped in a whole lotta trouble, and I love it.”

I laughed, leaning closer to him, brushing a finger down his chest. “You going to keep talking, or you going to show me how you really feel?”

He didn’t answer with words. He answered with a kiss. Slow, deliberate, heated, tasting like everything I wanted. My body melted against his, and I had to fight to keep my knees from giving out right there in his office.

“Damn,” he mumbled against my lips, pulling back just enough to look at me, his hand sliding down my back, gripping my ass lightly. “You’re going to make me lose all control tonight.”

I grinned, tilting my head. “Good. I like when you lose control.”

The door opened before he could respond, and Sanya popped her head in. “Mr. Ocean, you got a situation.”

I groaned, stepping back and straightening my dress as Ocean’s brow wrinkled.

“What kind of situation?” he asked.

Sanya stepped into the office. “Melina. She’s outside and she’s refusing to leave. She’s saying she needs to talk to you. Security’s about to toss her if she doesn’t get the fuck on.”

My stomach sank a little. I knew Ocean’s night had to go smooth. He didn’t need any drama, not tonight of all nights. I stepped up next to him, pressing a hand to his chest. “Go. Talk to her. Keep it calm. Don’t give her a reason to cause a scene.”

He looked down at me, eyes dark with both desire and something I couldn’t place.

He leaned in, brushing his lips against mine quickly, a whisper of promise and warning. “You got me?”

I smiled, biting my lip as our kiss deepened for a moment, tongues brushing, hands roaming one last time. “Yes, baby,” I whispered, pushing him gently toward the door.

He gave me a quick grin, then pulled himself together and left, his long strides carrying him out of the office. The heavy bass and faint shouts from the club reminded me just how crazy tonight was going to get.

I moved toward the door, heading back into the club, adjusting my dress and smoothing my hair. The crowd was loud, the lights spinning and bouncing off the walls like fireworks, and I felt that rush...the one that hit whenever I stepped into Ocean’s world.

On my way down the hall, I almost ran into Nyx. My eyes went wide as I took in her figure, her smile lighting up even in the dim club lights.

“Nyx?” I said, half laughing, half shocked.

She grinned, eyes sparkling, moving closer to hug me. “Hey! I figured your fast tail would be back here.”

I laughed, stepping back to take her in fully. “Whatever. What are you even doing here? I thought?—”

“Yeah, I know.” She waved me off. “I decided that I didn’t want to let that crazy night hold me hostage. I want to support Ocean the same way he’s supporting my girl. I had to be here.”

“Aw, thank you. I know he’s going to appreciate it.” I looked her over again. “You look amazing.”

She tilted her head, twirling slightly to show off her outfit. “You’re not so bad yourself. But seriously…it’s packed in here. How’s he taking it?”

“Calm, collected, smooth as hell. But…you know him. He’s still Ocean. I’m just hoping nothing crazy happens tonight.”

“Same,” she whispered.

We walked further into the club, weaving through the crowd. The R&B music thumped against my chest, and I could see the dance floor lit up with people moving, drinks in hand, bodies swaying in rhythm with the beat.

I caught a glimpse of the bar from the corner of my eye, packed with people, laughing and shouting over the music. Then my eyes found Ocean across the floor, moving through people with confidence. Even surrounded by chaos, he was untouchable, and yet…I felt like I had him all to myself.

Nyx nudged me gently, breaking my trance. “Skye…you okay?”

I laughed, shaking my head. “Yeah, yeah. I’m good. Just…looking.”

She grinned knowingly. “Girl, I see the way you look at him. Don’t even play like you don’t.”

I rolled my eyes, but the heat creeping up my neck betrayed me. “Whatever, Nyx.”
