When we were finished, we clasped our hands together and smiled at each other. Making magic like this was an intimate thing, and we were both feeling closer to each other than ever before now that the spell was done.

When I chose Luna to be Harper’s friend, I did so because she was a Good. A direct descendant of one of the most powerful bloodlines. I hadn’t expected her to be the equivalent of a friendly soulmate.

Not all souls had mates that were romantic in nature. Sometimes, you found someone who’s soul had been cut from the same cloth, but their purpose in your life was platonic, but no less powerful.

I was beginning to realize that Luna was that for me.

She was my best friend, and though our relationship was new, it had the strength to transcend lifetimes.

“The boys should be heading to the church soon. We need to start getting a coven together,” I explained, and she nodded in agreement.

“I asked Willow to meet us here, and she actually agreed,” Luna said with a hesitant smile, and I nodded, feeling strangely nervous about seeing the other part of our three-pronged triangle.

As if summoned by Luna’s words, the doorbell rang, and I got to my feet to answer the door.

I was in fishnets again, though these were stitched with the phases of the moon down each leg, and my leather mini skirt hugged my thighs as I made my way to answer the door. I’d thrown on an oversized T-shirt that had an illustration of the death tarot card on it, and I resisted the urge to wring it through my fingers as I prepared to greet Willow.

I opened the door, and I immediately knew I was going to have my work cut out for me.

This was not the same Willow I had spoken to just days before.

She was in a dress reminiscent of what those awful girls had been wearing that day at the cafe. It was modest and tied uncomfortably tight to her throat and wrists, the skirt hitting her in an unflattering way mid-calf.

Her normally excitable, warm brown eyes were glazed, and even her light dusting of freckles seemed to be more faded than usual.

“Good morning, Harper. Blessed day.”

I couldn’t fix my expression at her greeting fast enough.

“What?”I stammered, and Willow cocked her head to the side. My gaze dropped down to her hands, and I realized with a start she was holding a small black book with a cross on it.

My heart sank as I realized it was a fucking Bible.

Holy fuck.

“I said blessed day. It’s a beautiful morning to live under the light of His grace.”

“Willow. You know you’re a witch, right? Since when do you worship a Christian god?”

“Since Father Raziel helped me see the light. I have come to hopefully convince the two of you to come hear his word.”

I felt, more than heard, Luna approach from behind. I glanced over my shoulder to find her watching us with pursed lips and concerned eyes.

“See? It’s like she’s been brainwashed.”

Willow immediately bristled at this.

“I haven’t been brainwashed. If anything, my eyes have been opened to the truth. We’ve been living insin,Luna. But it’s not too late. Father Raziel can absolve us.”

“Yeaaahhh… I’m good,” Luna scoffed, and I turned back to look at Willow again.

Her energy had been repressed, and something was preventing her from accessing her internal magic. Her chakras were blocked and throbbing as if they were in desperate need of a cleansing. It was like they wereinfectedwith something.

“What have theydoneto you?” I whispered, horrified by the state of her spiritual health.

Willow cocked her head to the side.

“Nothing that wasn’t necessary to help me find God’s light.”
