Her chest was rising and falling in desperate pants, and that strange, inky substance was leaking from her lips in a relentless stream.
Shem’s nostrils flared, and his pupils blew as he observed her.
“She smells like… She smells like Yahweh’s kiln.”
Yahweh had a kiln that he used to create new angels. It was how Shem and Gabe had been made, and this revelation caused my entire body to erupt in gooseflesh.
“What does that mean?” I whispered, and Shem glanced at me, his lips pursing in concern.
“I can’t be sure, but if I had to guess, I would say that Raziel has planted anangelinside her… but it’s different from how Gabe and I were created. It’s almost like Raziel is using your friend as an incubator of some kind.”
“An incubator?”
Shem nodded gravely. “Yeah.”
Shem turned back to Willow, and he spoke to her, but the words that left his mouth were strange and foreign.
“Quid est propositum tuum?” Shem asked the creature in Latin. It released that strange clicking noise and licked its inky lips.
“Mundum a peccato liberare,” it replied, and Shem growled in anger.
“Esne angelus?”
“Novus angelorum genus. Qui crescat et terram hanc a genere tuo in perpetuum purget.”
Shem chuckled and stood up, sliding his hands into his pockets.
“We’ll see about that.” His voice was low and laced with a clear threat.
“What did you say to it?” Luna asked quietly, and Shem sighed.
“I asked what its purpose was and if it was an angel. It said it’s a new kind of angel, created to rid this world of sin.”
“Do you think he’s planted an angel inallof those people?!” Luna exclaimed, clearly horrified at the concept.
“I think it’s safe to assume, yes,” Shem said darkly.
Fury roared through my chest.
These were MY people.
How fuckingdarehe posses my children like this!?
“I will unmake him for this,” I hissed, but Gabriel shot me an angry look.
“Raziel is mine,” he snapped, his tone letting me know that there was no room for discussion on this topic. “I have already promised him his death; you will not take it from me.”
Shem was frowning at Gabriel in consideration, and I felt my lip twitch.
“Fine. But Ares is mine.”
“Deal,” Gabriel agreed, and we shook on it, the magic of our agreement sealing our joined hands.
“Now, let’s get this creature out of Willow so we can focus on the true enemy.”
Serena prepared the potion and handed me a sealed vial full of the hot, earthy liquid.
Luna handed me the spell jar she had created, and I tucked it into my bra. I was going to need to force Willow to drink the potion first, and then once the angel was expelled from her body, I would tie the protection jar around her neck to protect her from further possession.
