“Game?” Lex asks. They all line the tub.

“Mm-hmm,” I agree. “All of you climb in.”

They look at one another before listening to me. The tub is certainly big enough to fit them, but they’re all going to wind up a little close. Of course, Orion moves first, Parker is next, then Hadrian. Lex stands on the edge of the tub trying to decide where he might fit.

“Get in, doctor,” I say. “This is an anatomy test. Your specialty.”

He climbs in last, sliding up between Parker and Hadrian. They look at each other with mild disdain, but also a newfound understanding between the two of them. I wonder what might have happened on the trip back here to change things.

CHAPTER 39

HADRIAN

This tub is tootight to fit all of us reasonably, but I wouldn’t dare disobey her now that I know what she’s capable of. All of them can see the bruises, the evidence of what she was put through, but Soren and I are the only ones who know what she did tohim. There isn’t a chance in hell Carl Briarwick died without suffering. The image of that shoe sticking out of his eye hasn’t left my head, and while it was all disgusting, I can’t help but suddenly revere her.

For a long time, I didn’t care about anything but my music. That much was obvious, but I realize now I didn’t respect anything else either. Music was god, and that’s all there was to it. Respect and admiration for her fill me, and I can’t pretend I don’t share some of those feelings for Lex as well.

Sitting next to him naked like this would have been a lot more uncomfortable before the hotel and the understanding we reached. Always considering him weird and morbid, his skills and interests suddenly make a lot more sense. He’s usually the most together of this group, and it strikes me that I was the one who was able to find her. Was I able to think more clearly because I was never as invested as the rest of them? I’ve likedSable from the beginning, cared for her for a while, but is loving her something else entirely?

Is what they went through in her absence proof that I didn’t feel the same? I didn’t have the full picture of her for one thing. The Sable who fought a grown man to the death looks a lot different from the girl I met a few months ago. She left her father at the bottom of a river, though, so perhaps it was my fault for underestimating her all along.

Sable is so beautiful when cloaked in steam. The low light covers the bruises enough that I can almost forget what happened to her. Her lips curl, and it’s such a stark difference from how we found her yesterday that my eyes burn. It’s too wet in here to tell if a tear forms, but the sensation passes as she looks at me. I’ve never cared about anything in my life other than myself or my music, not really, but she’s the one who changedeverything.

“I think we should have a contest,” she says. The words come out lazy, like a cat playing with its meal. I think she knows that’s what we all are, offerings for her instead this time, her playthings.

“A contest?” Lex asks, but he’s excited. “What kind?”

“Who can hold their breath the longest.” It sounds innocent enough at first pass, but the wicked smile curling her lips tells me otherwise.

“While doing what exactly?” Parker asks as he licks his lips.

“Trying to make me come,” she answers with her brows pushed together like it was an entirely stupid question. My cock hardens at the idea. I haveexcellentbreath control as a musician. I don’t just play the piano.

“Are we being timed? I don’t see a stopwatch,” I tease, but I wouldn’t dare disobey her.

“I’ll keep track of the winner,” she answers.

“I can get one if we really want to be official,” Parker says.

“What about making you come? Do we get something for that?” Orion interrupts.

“The joy of making me cum, obviously,” she tells him. He’s so whipped he nearly whimpers for her. “Parker, sit down.”

Much to my surprise, he obeys her immediately.

“Who wants to go first?” she asks.

They all clamor to be the one, but I stare at her and wait. None of the guys really understands patience. All of them have gotten what they want out of life too easily. I’m the only one who’s had to fight against every single expectation of me to do what I want, only to fail and wind up here anyway. Self-control and the ability to play the long game always prove out. I may have been disconnected before Sable plugged me back in, but the rest of them are weak.

Sable looks at each of us before offering me a wide smile. “You look particularly well-behaved, Hadrian. Would you like to go first?”

“Yes, Miss Briarwick,” I answer as I move toward her.

“Oh come on, he’s already had a turn with you! I need you,” Orion complains.

“You’ll have me when you learn to behave,” she chastises him.

The tub is large, but tight with all of us inside. I dip below the water, resting my knees on the bottom. The guys are close at my back, and I ignore the spots where our legs and arms touch. Gripping her thighs, I spread them open to make room for myself. I realize quickly this is going to be harder than I expected as I drop beneath the water’s surface. My hands spread her open, and a second later, my tongue touches her cunt. The sweetness isn’t as strong, washed away by the water, but she’s so slick and delicious that the experience is otherworldly.
