Anger brews in his eyes, and he yanks me by the arms and shakes me like a dog with a chew toy.

“You’re going to give me what I want.”

I slap him across the face, and he barely flinches. I go for his balls, and he blocks it. I have never been so terrified in my life. I feel light-headed and dizzy, like I’m on the verge of fainting. He brushes his lips against mine, so I bite him hard, and he grabs me by the throat, throwing me on the floor.

“You little bitch.” He holds me down with his knee on my stomach, and pain shoots up my limbs. He unbuckles his belt, then unzips his pants and whips out his short dick.

“I want you to put your mouth on it.”

I swallow back the bile that threatens to make its appearance all over myself.

“It’ll be over with soon, I promise. Then I’ll make you feel good. I know how to please a woman.”

He presses the head of his dick to my lips, and I turn the other way. He places his hand on my throat.

“Suck it now.”

I open my mouth and bite the head of his dick, and he wails in pain, calling me all sorts of names.

I take off running, and he’s right behind me, but he trips over his feet and falls to the carpet. I kick him in the face and then leave the bookstore.

Once I get home, I call Raven, and she comes over to comfort me. We sit outside on the balcony, and I tell her everything. She listens to me and bursts out into tears, and we hold each other. I’m so numb; I feel like an empty shell. My emotions are too much for me to handle, so I sob against her blue uniform shirt.

“It’s going to be okay,” Raven says. “I’m here for you, and Viper will be here so—”

“Don’t tell him. I don’t want it to ruin what we have.”

“What do you mean?”

“He’s the only light in my life, and if you were to tell him, then I will be a burden on him with my problems. I don’t know how he would react to it. He might view me as trash, and I’m too embarrassed about what happened.”

“He needs to k—”

“I said no. It’s my fault I was attacked. I shouldn’t have been too friendly with him. I should have seen the signs,” I say through gritted teeth.

She strokes my hair like I’m a wounded child. “It’s not your fault.”

“Then why does it feel as if it’s my fault?”

She strokes the back of my head. “I don’t know. Please, tell Viper.”

“No. Promise me you won’t say anything.”

“I promise.”

After I finish rolling the body into a plastic bag, I leave the abandon building, open the door to my car, and slide into the driver’s seat and I tell Google to call Autumn but she doesn’t answer. I miss her terribly. She hasn’t been answering my text messages for the last two hours, so I go home and find her sitting outside on the deck with tears in her eyes. Her body shakes like a tree, and her beautiful tone is pale. I’ve never seen her so sad. Her friend Raven has her arms around her, consoling her. Anger brews inside of my chest.

Slowly, I walk out onto the deck. The wind blows her pink hair to the side, and her eyes meet mine. They’re haunted and vacant.

I kneel in front of her, gripping her chin, but she breaks from my embrace.

“Angel. What’s wrong?”

She shakes her head at me, and then her eyes plead with Raven to not say anything.

“Did I do something to hurt you?”
