“What’s yours is mine.”

“Is that how it works?”

“That’s exactly how it works.”

Kiernan set a plate in front of us—eggs, toast, and jam. He poured me my own tea, then sat across from us with his own plate.

“Viper called,”I said after we’d finished, the plates were cleared, and we’d gone to the library.

Oliver was stretched on the sofa, with his head in my lap. Kiernan sat in the wingback chair by the fire, reading something on his tablet.

“And?” Oliver asked.

“She’s been trying to reach you. Your medical clearance came through.”

“About bloody time,” he muttered. He’d been restless these past weeks, his body healed but his mind still adjusting to the stillness. Oliver wasn’t built for inactivity. None of us were.

“Anything else?” Kiernan asked.

“Typhon wants an answer.” I ran my fingers through Oliver’s hair. “He’s giving us until the end of the week.”

“What do you want to do?” Kiernan asked, his eyes on me, but the question was for both of us.

“I want to say yes,” Oliver said. “The work matters. And I’d rather answer to Typhon than to the bureaucratic nightmare that is MI6 middle management.”

“You’d be working with me,” Kiernan said. “All of us on the same team. That could be…complicated.”

“It could.” Oliver sat up, turning to face him. “Does that bother you?”

“No.” Kiernan’s answer came at once. “I’m asking if it bothers you.”

“Being on a team with the two people I—” Oliver stopped, then started again. “No.It doesn’t bother me.”

“Say it,” Kiernan said quietly.

Oliver’s jaw worked. Admitting our feelings wasn’t easy for any of us.

“The two people I love,” he finished. “No.It doesn’t bother me.”

“Ophelia?” Kiernan asked.

“I want it,” I said.

Kiernan’s mouth curved—not a full smile, but close. “Then, that’s settled.”

“What about Viper?” I asked. “She’s going to be annoyed about losing us to Unit 23.”

“Only a little,” Kiernan said. “But not as much as she’s pretending. She’ll survive.”

“And the logistics?” Oliver asked. “Unit 23 isn’t exactly a nine-to-five office job. Not that MI6 is, unless you’re a bureaucrat.”

“We work remotely. Missions happen when they happen, but between them—” Kiernan gestured at the room around us. “This is home base for our team.”

“Speaking of the team,” Oliver said. “Have you talked to Callen lately? He’s seemed…off.”

“He’s dealing with something. Family matter at Dunravin.”

“The MacLeods?”
