On our way out, we got our picture taken together and I purchased two magnets at the gift shop.
“What am I going to do with a magnet, shawty?” he asked as he opened the door for me.
“Slap it on your fridge,” I shrugged. “It’ll be cute having one from all of our dates,” I offered. “I’ll even back tack and get us some bowling magnets from somewhere.”
“Alright.” He chuckled. “We can do that.”
I smiled up at him and he shook his head as he closed the door for me.
We didn’t talk for the drive back to Allur’s place. Instead, Kaleo bobbed his head to his music and I texted Allur and checked my social media for the first time all day.
I was surprised to see Kaleo had posted another picture of me. This time it was me holding the baby alligator. I was cradling them like a baby and looking directly at Kaleo with a huge smile on my face. He’d put a green heart on the screen but hadn’t tagged me.
My eyes flew up to Kaleo and back down when a second picture of me popped up. It was me leaning out of the truck to feed an animal. You could see that he had two fingers wedged into my belt loop, something I hadn’t even noticed at the time.
I locked my phone then unlocked it and posted the picture we’d taken on the way out. Then, I locked my phone and tossed it in the cupholder.
I looked out of the window instead, the stupidest little smile on my face that I couldn’t wash off no matter how hard I tried.
Kaleo parked and looked over at me.
“I appreciate you coming out with me,” he said.
“Did you have fun?”
He smiled. “Yeah. It was a little questionable at first, but I really did have a good time with you.”
“Good.” I shimmied in my seat.
His smile widened. “So, you want to go out again?”
“Yeah.” I nodded. “You can start planning the next date.”
“I already have some thoughts.”
“I can’t wait to see them.” I looked at the house and back at Kaleo. “You want to come inside?”
“You want me to come inside, shawty?”
“I wouldn’t offer if I didn’t.”
“Alright.” He licked his lips and threw his car into park with his eyes still focused on me.
I didn’t hesitate. I pushed the car door open and hopped out. Kaleo followed me up. I let us inside.
“You’ve been here before, right?” I asked.
“Yeah. Allur hosts shit for JV sometimes.”
“Okay, cool. Well, you can get comfortable wherever you want.” I gestured around. “Is it cool if I take a shower?”
“Yeah. Do you.” He collapsed on the couch.
“Okay. I’ll be right back. Drinks are in the fridge. Watch whatever.”
“Alright.”
I scurried to my bedroom, grabbed some shorts, a shirt and some underwear and hurried into my bathroom. We’d spent all day outside in the sun and I wasn’t going to lie, I was attractedto Kaleo and open to things going further than a kiss so I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity. I brushed my teeth and hopped in the shower for the fastest ‘everything shower’ to ever exist.
