‘You live in London and I live—’
‘One day at a time. We can work it out as we go along. I have a good feeling about you, Elle Cooper.’
‘One day at a time,’ she repeated.
‘But I do have to go back to London tonight. I have a meeting with my agent tomorrow lunchtime.’
‘How about you head back early tomorrow morning instead?’ she suggested hopefully. She didn’t want to let him out of her sight.
‘Sounds like a good plan to me.’

Elle woke up at three a.m. entwined in Noah’s arms, and was enveloped in an overwhelming feeling of happiness. For a moment she watched him sleep, before she kissed him gently and snuggled back into his chest.
‘Mmm, what time is it?’ he murmured.
‘Three-ish,’ she whispered. ‘You’ve got another couple of hours before you need to leave. Try and get some more sleep.’
‘Another couple of hours, you say? Who needs sleep?’ he murmured, pulling her in closer. Elle was the happiest girl on the planet.

‘OH MY GOSH! Look at that smile on your face!’ Pippa exclaimed, pouring milk over her cornflakes.
‘I have no idea what you mean,’ Elle protested.
‘Don’t give me that! I heard all the whispering before someone sneaked out the door in the early hours. I take it it all went well?’
Elle nodded. ‘Noah and I…’
‘Yes?’ she urged.
‘Spent the night together and I’ll be seeing him again very soon,’ she confided, beaming and grabbing herself a bowl of cornflakes.
‘That’s brilliant! I’m made up for you, Elle! It’s only taken how long?’
She laughed. ‘Nine months!’
‘Come on! Spill the beans – tell me what happened. I was surprised to see him standing on the doorstep,’ Pippa said, shovelling cornflakes into her mouth.
‘He’d heard me shout on the platform, but it was too late – the train doors had closed and it had started moving. Once his phone got a signal, he got messages from Jessica and Dan telling him not to get on the train. He jumped off at the next stop, grabbed a taxi and came straight here.’
‘Aww, this is so romantic. It’s like something that happens in the movies.’ Pippa put her hands on her heart.
‘I have to keep pinching myself. I can’t believe this is happening to me.’
‘What’ll you do about the distance?’
‘I was a little worried about that, but he said we should take it one day at a time, and he’s right. What will be will be.’
Pippa squealed. ‘Ooh, I think he’s definitely a keeper. This is allsoromantic.’
‘Are you seeing Aiden tonight?’ asked Elle.
‘No, his dad is staying with him this week, and he doesn’t get to see him that often. He said Theo is very excited.’
‘You’ll get to meet him though, won’t you?’
