Just as I lifted my legs up onto his shoulders so that he could go deeper, my phone rang.
I ignored it. Whatever it was would have to wait until we’d both got off.
The ringer stopped.
Then it started again.
‘Sorry, I should’ve put it on silent. Ignore it.’ I’d only switched it back on a few hours ago to check there hadn’t been any messages from Ricky as I hadn’t heard from him since last week. I hoped he was okay.
The phone rang for a third time and I paused.
Ringing twice was a lot, but three times in a row meant it must be an emergency.
‘You should check it,’ Gabriel said.
‘I don’t want you to stop! But you’re right,’ I sighed. ‘I should check. Don’t move though. Stay there.’
I lowered my legs, then reached for the phone on my bedside table which was now ringing for the fourth time.
When I saw Juliette’s name on the screen, my blood ran cold.
‘Shit. It’s your mum,’ I said then winced at how terrible that sounded.
Gabriel’s shoulders slumped.
‘I would suggest that you ignore her, but I know you will feel bad because you have not spoken to her for a while, so go ahead.’
He pulled out and I instantly missed the feel of him being inside me.
‘Hello?’ I said, trying to steady my breath.
‘Darling, hi! Sorry I didn’t reply to your messages. I was at the hospital.’
‘The hospital?’ I bolted upright, my eyes popping with shock. ‘What? Why? What happened?’
‘I slipped on the floor on Friday night and hurt myself. I was in absolute agony.’
‘Oh my God!’ I said, as a tsunami of guilt washed over me.
This happened on Friday.
The same night that I’d had sex with Gabriel.
So whilst poor Juliette was laid up in the hospital in agony, I had her son’s dick inside me.
And to make it worse, she’d just called me several times and I hadn’t answered because I was too busy getting fucked by himagain.
What the hell was wrong with me?
‘Who’s taking care of you?’ I said quickly.
‘No one. I’m back at home but Marjorie is away and Cordelia has her children over.’
‘If you’re still in pain, maybe I can come and help,’ I replied quickly before realising what I’d said and what it meant for me and this trip. I was just used to always doing whatever I could to make sure she was okay.
Gabriel got up and left the room.
‘It might not be until towards the end of the week though, because I’d really like to stay a bit longer and enjoy my birthday,’ I added, deciding it was important to also consider my own needs for a change.
