After what felt like an eternity, we broke apart, gasping for breath. Ky'rn rested his forehead against mine, our breaths mingling, our hearts racing.

"You have no idea how much I needed to hear that," he murmured, his voice thick.

I smiled, feeling a weight lift off my chest. "And you have no idea how much I needed to tell you."

“I can’t lose you,” he whispered. “Not again.”

I brought my hands up, resting them against his broad chest, feeling the rapid beat of his hearts. “You won’t,” I promised. “I’m here, with you. That’s where I want to be.”

He leaned in, his lips brushing against my forehead in a gentle kiss. It was a soft, intimate moment—a moment of reassurance and understanding.

“I’ve seen so much loss in my life,” he murmured. “But losing you, even the mere thought of it, terrifies me more than anything. And I almost lost you three times.”

"A life for a life,” I muttered. “We've exchanged lives. Proof that our fates are forever entwined."

“I told you to forget me—to stay away—yet you defied me,” Ky’rn growled. “Thank the Stars for your defiance, because you've become my obsession and my salvation."

“There was no way I’d be able to forget you, even if you hadn’t already marked me as yours,” I confessed. "From the brink of death, you've saved my life. In your arms, I've found my home. You’re my home, Ky’rn. I realize that now.”

“I may be a creature of the deep, but it's you who dived deep into my lonely heart and filled it with hope…and love." He brushed my hair back. "Just as the ocean embraces the shore, let me embrace you tonight."

The rush of love I felt was like a wave crashing over me, engulfing me in its warmth and intensity. It was a sensation I had never felt so profoundly before, a deep, enveloping emotion that anchored me to the very core of my being.

Every touch, every word, every look from Ky'rn made my heart race and my skin tingle. It wasn't just the physical sensations, it was the profound emotional connection, the feeling of being truly seen, truly valued, truly loved.

With him, I was whole.

In his arms, the world with all its chaos and uncertainty faded away, replaced by a comforting cocoon of safety and security.

My eyelids grew heavy as the events of the past few hours weighed on me. The adrenaline that had kept me going was now receding, and in its place, a deep, bone-weary exhaustion took hold.

His voice, deep and soothing, penetrated the haze of fatigue. "Isla, rest. Let yourself heal," he murmured, stroking my hair gently.

"I love you, Ky'rn," I whispered, my voice barely audible. It was a promise, a vow, and a declaration all in one. "I want to be with you. Every moment, every day. I want to love you and be loved by you."

A soft smile tugged at the corners of his lips, and he pulled me even closer, our hearts beating in sync. "You have my hearts, Isla," he replied, his voice filled with emotion. "And I have yours."

With that, he repositioned us, ensuring I was comfortable nestled against his chest. The gentle rhythm of his heartbeat lulled me, a comforting backdrop to the warmth and safety of his embrace.

He pressed a soft kiss to my forehead, his warm breath tickling my skin. "Sleep, my love," he whispered back. "I'll be right here when you wake."

And with that promise, I allowed the comforting darkness of sleep to claim me, knowing that I would awaken in the arms of the one who loved me most.

CHAPTERTHIRTY-ONE

KY’RN

The weight of Isla's head against my chest was a calming balm, reminding me of the precious treasure I now had.

We'd tasted the fear of death—and now we could taste the sweetness of freedom together.

There would be no morelife for a life—I forbade it.

A bell sounded, a sharp and irritating twinge that sliced through the quiet serenity I had been luxuriating in. My protective instincts roared to life, instantly ready to shield Isla from harm. The intrusive noise threatened to shatter the fragile bubble of intimacy we'd crafted around ourselves.

My skin crawled, a low rumble escaping me. This was our time. Who would dare to interrupt it?

Isla shifted, her lovely face marred with sleep lines and confusion. "Ky'rn?" she mumbled, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "What's that sound?"
