“Then do it because I am not going to give the title away freely.”

Chapter Forty-Seven

Xylo

“I know why you are here,” Xylo called out to his nestqueen as soon as she entered the infirmary’s threshold. “I amfine.I need to get used to not having them, but they won’t hinder my studying…”

He kept track of her progression, and as soon as she stepped within an arm’s reach, he spun around and gripped her thighs.

“Or pleasing you.”

She gasped as he scooped her up and placed her on his desk, shoving the tablets to make room for her. Sounds of the objects from his desk cluttering to the floor filled his ears as he stared at his nestqueen.

She watched him with heavy breaths as she stared at him in confusion, waiting for him to make his next move.

Staring intensely into the eyes that dared him to drown himself in, Xylo placed his hands on her stomach and felt every deep breath she made.

“I won’t waste the little time we have together with fears and doubts because they never crossed my mind. I knew you would never get rid of us or be ashamed of us for our lack of appendages, so I focused on you and your unborn baby.

“Every waking day, I am amazed by how strong and caring you are. This is just another example of how you aren't like other nestqueens and Circul’s rulers. Most nestqueens would automatically start separating themselves from the injured and disabled, knowing that their time was limited to when the enforces came. They would create a natural mental shield to protect themselves and the other clanmates from the torment of losing a member.

“But instead, you accept us. You not only accept our nontraditional-coloring, but our current situation, all while working hard to find a way to heal us quicker. How do we deserve such a nestqueen like you?”

Slamming his mouth on hers, he didn’t allow her to answer--nor did he want it.

Their hands did the talking for them as they roamed each other’s bodies.

Selena gasped against his mouth, and Xylo took the opportunity to dive in. His tongue twisted and turned, dancing with his hers, as he filled her with all the love and devotion he had.

He pulled away, only to find her neck and pressed kisses along its juncture.

Gripping her laced top, he pulled it off over her head and threw it onto the floor haphazardly.

“I will lead this clan as your Primary until my last breath, and the cosmos claim me.”

Leaning forward, he pressed his lips against the top of her scar and slowly began to trace it. Her hands found his grassy hair, gripping it tightly as her legs wrapped around him.

Gasps and coos filled the air as he tried to kiss away her scar.

“No matter what happens in the future, you honor me, Selena.”

Chapter Forty-Eight

Zirene

The jungle brush shifted as steps too loud for an intruder neared. Using his abyss, he instantly knew it was his Nova failing to sneak up to him before her Kaede-tainted aroma filled his nostrils.

“Our cubs would be better assassins than you,” he chuckled as he continued to watch the duo sunset. “Perhaps you should start taking lessons with them when we gather them.”

“Perhaps I knew sneaking up on you would be a lost cause,” she countered as she stepped beside him and leaned onto the railing, breathing heavily. “Whose idea was it to have a secret meeting location here?”

“Mine.” Zirene scanned his Nova and wondered why she was out of breath from such a short walk. “Why?”

“Makes sense,” she muttered. “Only you and Kaede would pick such remote locations.”

“Did he tell you I was here or…”

“He told me it was somewhere in this direction, but Vowels was the one who led me to you.” She gave him a sheepish grin. “I wanted to talk to you alone to see if you were alright.”
