Jay detached their bodies, rising, holding his wife with one arm, and pulling for his loungers with the other hand.He carried her to the bedroom, looking at the bed they shared. Each night, she turned down the covers on the bed. Each morning that she was home, she made him breakfast, prepared his lunch, and cooked him dinner. Then, she had the audacity to ask him if she pleased him.A man couldn't get any luckier than he was with a woman like Helen for a wife.

He wasn't certain how long she would be a Technician or how having to do the really hard work would impact the woman she'd evolved into, but the loving person who went out of her way to show him appreciation would be protected. He didn't care if he had to rally every resource available to him, his wife, his Helen, his love would be supported in everything she did.

“I love you,” was all he had to say.

“I love you too, Jay,” she said, and he sat on the bed with her cradled in his arms.

“We need to clean up, or we will be crusty in the morning,” he said, chuckling.

“Maybe we should run a bath and soak in that lovely tub.I wash your back, your front, clean up Colt,” she said, snuggling.“I like him.Never thought I would enjoy that as much as I did, but I nearly was there just from pleasing you.We may have a new thing.”

“Shit, I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle your new thing, but after that, fuck some cuddling,” he said, laughing.“I'll start the bathwater.”

“Yeah, you do that,” she said, looking at his strong back head for the bathroom.“You do just that, Mister.”

Chapter 14- Stoppage

Aquiet Tuesday arrivedwith Helen sitting in a well of emotions.Several thoughts were going through her head on the Chrysalis, her husband, Apple’s arrival, and the upcoming wedding. She wasn't so much interested in the wedding per se since she and Jay were already married, but she was looking at something more.As if Ruth Neary heard her thinking, she called.

“Morning, Ruth,” Helen said in the line.

“Hello, Dear.I have a few ideas to run by you so we can get locked in,” Ruth said.“We can go fancy, traditional Southern charm with sprawling staircases, bountiful gardens, and grand ballrooms, most of which are available.I do have a friend on the Board at Churchill Downs if we want to go over the top for a wedding to remember.”

Helen inhaled deeply. This is one of the matters that was on her mind this morning, but she ruminated on who would be in attendance for the event. She and Jay were already husband and wife; this was simply a bit of pomp added to their circumstance.

“Ruth, since Jay and I are already married, I want to keep my attendees in mind,” she said softly.“We are talking about people who live remotely and work remotely, and most have very few public interactions.Let's also factor in the kids who will be in attendance.”

“I'm listening,” Ruth said.

“One, we are going to need a hotel since most will be coming in from out of town, so a room block with a fixed rate is a must,” Helen said, adding, “and if we can have everything in one location that would be great.I was especially thinking if people wanted to enjoy a few drinks, no driving, just taking the elevator up to their hotel rooms would be ideal.”

“Then, we will need to book two spaces in the hotel, one for the ceremony and one for the reception,” Ruth said.

“Or we book a large room, have the wedding on one side with a partition, then as we move to the other side for the reception, the wedding portion is broken down, and that can become the dance floor,” Helen said.

“It sounds rather tacky to have the staff opening partition doors during your dinner,” Ruth said.
