“Maybe the someone else isn’t a player. My life isn’t just about this club, you know.” I rubbed my thumbs over his nipples, wishing he would reciprocate. My breasts were swollen, heavy, aching for Nate’s hands to be on them.

I got my wish. He grazed his hands over them, his fingers teasingly light. I heard my own gasp. “Are you seeing someone?”

I wasn’t going to play this game. “No. I wouldn’t be texting you if I was. Are you?”

His laugh was quiet. “I haven’t even looked at another woman until I noticed you.” He cupped my breasts.

I didn’t try to stop the moan that his touch elicited.

A knock at the door made us both freeze.

Nate removed his hands and I took a step back. His back was to the door, so anyone who entered wouldn’t be met with the sight of his erection through his sweats.

“Come in!” I wanted to tell them to go away, to leave us alone, but it could be a colleague or a player and I had to be regarded as professional, although what I had just done definitely wasn’t.

James popped his head in. “We’re all good in the other room. How long are you going to be?”

“All good in here too. No shoulder issues.” I smiled at James, hoping he didn’t notice what my vest and bra were failing to hide.

He nodded and smiled. “Awesome. See you on the coach.” He backed away, leaving Nate and I a few feet apart.

“I don’t know if that was well-timed or not.” Nate folded his arms, standing up.

“At least it was him. He’s the most unobservant person ever.” I walked towards the door.

“Lock it.” Nate’s voice was practically a growl. “For two minutes, lock it.”

“People might talk.”

“People won’t know. We won; the team will be celebrating. The other changing room will be empty by now. We can steal two minutes.” He prowled around the table towards me, his eyes studying my hand as I locked the door.

When he got to me, his hands went back on my waist and he pulled me toward him, his lips seeking out mine. The kiss wasn’t what I’d expected, if I’d expected anything. It was soft, gentle, unhurried as if we had more than two minutes, and it made me wish I’d brought spare underwear, because the ones I was wearing were now saturated. He didn’t touch me anywhere else, or press his body close to mine, just his hands on my waist and his mouth on mine.

When the kiss ended he stayed focused on me. “I felt your tits without kissing you first. That was wrong.”

I chuckled. “My tits disagree.”

“Your tits are fucking awesome. I’d like to get to know them better.”

“The feeling’s mutual.”

He unlocked the door. “Text me.”

“Maybe.” I managed what I hoped was a coy smile, waited for him to close the door, turned my back to it and slid down it to the floor, melting into a pool of lusty goo.

CHAPTER6

Nate

MANCHESTER ATHLETIC V. CHELSEA, NOVEMBER 1

“How was Halloween?”Jesse threw me a bottle of sports water. It was a bad throw, and I had to reach out to catch it, which made me hope he was better at hitting the target during today’s game.

I nodded, opening the bottle. “It was okay. My parents are there at the moment and my sister; they’re staying on for a few weeks to help pack – or at least my parents are.”

“Sister?”

“Jerrica’s got her own business party planning, but she’s not said much about it, and she hasn’t said when she’s going home, so I have no idea what’s happening there.” I shrugged, downing half the bottle in one go. My sister had been through about five different jobs in the last four years, not sticking to any of them. Our folks had given up asking her details about what she was up to, because the information they got usually focused on how she needed more time for her writing – which didn’t seem to be forming any sort of career as we hadn’t yet read anything written by her.
