I gave him the victory seconds before I felt his cock harden even more inside me, his grip changed to my hips, and he pushed into me hard, filling me with hot warmth.

We were both panting. I clutched onto the sheets underneath us, Liam’s hands were still on me. For what felt like minutes we both just lay there, bathed in shock. I expected him to be up on his feet almost immediately, passing me my clothes and leaving quickly.

I was wrong.

We lay, spooning. His arms were relaxed now, one draped over me and his breath was slowing.

“One time.” I said it more for me than him.

“Does that mean no repeats tonight?”

I heard the music in his voice.

“Once I walked out of the door the only thing we’ll become is tenants in common.”

He lifted himself up and I moved to lie on my back, looking up at him, wondering who I was seeing.

“Agreed.”

“That’s probably the first thing we’ve agreed on.”

“You’ve agreed it was me who got you turned on.”

“I don’t recall saying that.”

His laugh was deep and throaty. “It was my name you said.”

The glasses were fake. Everyone knew that Seph had better than twenty twenty vision. Everyone also knew that ever since a photoshoot that Vanessa had arranged back when she’d rebranded the Callaghan Green law firm, Seph had used them as his favourite accessory, but only because the feedback from the shoot had been that they made him look intelligent.

I had no idea why he was wearing them today given that we all knew he didn’t need them and that no one apart from us were here to see him.

“I can’t act for you. Technically I should be reporting this as fraud.” He looked from me to Liam and then pushed the glasses further up his nose.

“It isn’t fraud…” I began.

“Yes it is.” Liam interrupted. If he did it once more I was likely to kill him. “We’re planning a marriage of convenience to buy this property. We’re letting a widow think we’re besotted with each other and plan to live in the place like she planned to with her dead husband.”

“I suppose you have a point.”

Seph put down his pen. “My advice – go straight to her lawyers and explain what you want the property for. Offer above the asking price and they’ll advise her to accept. At the end of the day, it will come down to money.”

“But if she says no, then she won’t sell to us.”

Seph shrugged. “Your other options are to go through with it, but we’ll have to believe you really are intending to have a genuine and real marriage. Seriously.” He looked at me.

I squirmed. It wasn’t often I felt like a shit, but now was one of those times.

“Sophie,” there was humour back in his tone. “I can believe it as long as your convincing. I just think you’re both slightly warped.”

He started to go through the property and what was entailed, Liam listening intensely. There was more land than what we thought, meaning we could spread out guests and artists further so there would be more privacy. For once, we were agreeing, if you didn’t count last night.

“We can share the catering facilities.” I pointed to the kitchen. “One of Simone’s chefs is keen to move away and start something a little unique.”

“Is he any good?” Liam’s focus moved from the plans to me.

“She. She’s excellent.”
