“Yes.”

He bit his lips together, his eyes bright with a smile that he was trying to smother. “I don’t take the risks I used to, Laine. I’ve free climbed that before and it was only thirty feet. If I’d have dropped, the worst I’d have ended up with would’ve been a few grazes. Promise.”

“Okay.” She wanted to mention the auction. Ask him to not do it, but she couldn’t find the words. “I saw the calendar.”

Jake laughed. “I hope you didn’t buy one.”

“Gran mentioned I could look for free at my neighbour.”

“There is that. I’m also not sure I want you looking at Olly.”

“Scared you’ve got competition.”

He didn’t answer.

“You sure you’re not hurt?” She could see a scrape on his arm.

“I tell you what, meet me in the bathroom at the back in five minutes. You can check for yourself.” He gave her a wink and hopped off the seat, taking a large gulp of his beer, and headed off to talk to Zack. She looked back over at him a couple of times, and he caught her gaze, smiling at her teasingly.

“I know something’s going on between you two.” Imogen somehow managed to keep her volume to below loudspeaker level.

Lainey turned to her sister. For half a second she debated lying. “You’re right. There is. But no one knows.”

“Take it from me, they will know if you keep making eyes at each other.” She rolled hers. “You can tell me all later. I’m guessing now’s not a good time.”

Maybe her sister had some subtlety after all.

Lainey slipped away, taking her bag so it looked like she was just visiting the bathroom. She caught Abby noticing her and sent a little smile her way rather than trying to ignore her.

The bathroom at the back was part stockroom and a toilet that hadn’t been used for years. It was where Scott kept the stock of prosecco and other fizz that didn’t need to be in the cellar, and was handy to reach when Rayah ran in the bar needing a bottle.

It felt like forever before the door opened and Jake appeared. The expression on his face reduced Lainey’s underwear to a damp mess. She had a feeling she was about to be claimed and she wasn’t in the least bit afraid.

“Hey.” He closed the door and propped a couple of boxes of prosecco behind it. “You okay?”

She nodded, stepping over to him and yanking up his T-shirt. It had been another warm day and she could see where he’d caught the sun slightly. His curly hair, unkept from the climb and his fingers pushing through it, had been lightened by the summer from when she’d first met him.

He was gorgeous.

Lickable. Even with the dirt.

Any finesse or control went straight out of the room’s tiny window as soon as Jake’s T-shirt was off. He guided her to the back wall, pinning her against it while he kissed her into some sweet oblivion. Her hands inspected his body, scaling the dips and rises of his muscles right down to his trousers which she had undone with more haste than grace. Her top was yanked down, her bra with it while he feasted on her tits, sucking her nipples into tight buds that sent shocks to her pussy.

Jake’s hands wandered to between her legs, her shorts now on the floor with her underwear, pushed away in a team effort.

“Wrap your legs around me.” His instructions weren’t for being argued with. “You’re soaking. You’ll be even wetter when I’ve done with you.”

Lainey had lost her words. Her legs went round his waist, her back pressed against the wall. She needed him inside her, filling her up and taking her. It had been too long since this morning already.

He entered her almost roughly, his groan too loud. “You’re so fucking tight. Look at me, Lainey.”

She opened her eyes while he paused inside her. “Jake.” She grasped onto his shoulders as he started to move.

“This is mine. No one else does this. No dates with anyone else. No sneaking off with anyone else. Just me coming in this pussy. Or here.” His finger pressed against her ass and the spot there.

She nodded, too close to orgasm now. Whatever had put him in this mood, she liked it.

“And I’m not doing this with anyone else either. Only want you. Just you.”
