This was what the man was good at: keeping him in check, reminding him that there was such a thing as humanity and it wasn’t just about money.

“I know.” William strokes his back. “I know you worry about the daughter.”

“Blair.”

“Yes, Blair.”

“Do you think she’d be interested in my son?”

The man turns over, drapes his arm over William’s waist under the covers and William sighs. This could become just the way he was envisaging it, a perfect lazy morning in bed.

“Unless your son likes using a paddle and cuffs, probably not.”

William laughs. He’s heard stories before about the princess’ kinks and how she took her pleasure. It isn’t something he’s stored for future reference. People’s bedrooms should be kept private in his opinion, unless there was something that was too valuable for him to ignore, such as something for this deal between Scotland and Norway.

“He wouldn’t know what to do. Damn boy hasn’t got an original thought in his head.” He nuzzles the spot between man’s shoulders and his neck. “What would you like to do today?”

“Rest. Read. Maybe go somewhere exclusive for dinner. Have an early night.”

It’s music to William’s ears.

“Shouldn’t you be speaking to your son today. It’s a big day for him in parliament.”

The man has a point, but William isn’t keen on taking it.

“The boy has to learn to manage himself. I can’t keep holding his hand.”

“Understandable, but you’ve got a lot riding on his mismanagement. He’s so very pro-reunification and that’s not in your interests.”

“Our interests. Us. My interests are yours as well. We’ve talked about this.”

The man laughs quietly. “And it’s very nice of you, but you know I’m not driven by money. It’s you I want.”

“What if I say if I can make this work and leave this country – I’d have to, the tax would kill me – then you come too and we’re an us.” William hears a purr in his own voice as he speaks the words.

The man’s eyes grow softer, lustful. “You’d leave your wife?”

“With a very healthy divorce settlement. And we know she only married me because she thought she was getting my father’s millions and we know where that ended up.”

“If we could be together properly, then I’d be with you in a heartbeat.”

“Good, consider it done.”

“There’s only one way to seal this deal.” The man is awake now. He moves over William and straddles him, on his knees he shuffles down the bed, leaving them both exposed and then his mouth is on William’s cock.

William threads his fingers through the man’s hair and directs him as much as he is capable of right now, while the man worships him, gives him what he needs.

William lies back, half closes his eyes, imagines that they’re already on that island where they can be who they are with no wives or children or constituents.

“Franklyn,” he mutters. “Franklyn…”

Isaac

They should be the words I’ve been working towards hearing all of my life, but I’m unable to conjure the relevant amount of excitement.

It should be a big deal, hearing someone say they think you’re the best choice to lead the country.

“We realise that you’ve not been an MP for long, but the amount of experience you've had in supporting the Prime Minister is unprecedented, so your name will be put forward. There will be others, of course, and it will more than likely go to the members’ vote, but you will have our full support and advice throughout and hopefully beyond.” Roger Lorrimer smiles at me, his false teeth unnaturally white.
