I chuckled. “It’s going to be messy when I pull out of you.” I knew I’d come a ton inside her.

“It doesn’t matter. The floors are wooden. But my legs are dead. You won’t get another orgasm out of me.”

“Want to bet?”

She lost the bet four more times before we finally slept wrapped up in each other in her big bed. There wasn’t the awkwardness anymore about which side to sleep on, or how the covers worked between us. She would tuck herself into me, bringing her pillow down so her head was under my armpit and then her top arm would sprawl across my chest. I slept on my back, so the position seemed to suit us both. Her skin was soft against me and she felt petite and vulnerable. I had the overwhelming urge to protect her even though she was a feisty thing who could more than take care of herself. The only times I’d seen her vulnerable was when we’d been at the hospital after her father’s TIA and when she slept.

There was the barest hint of sunlight glimmering through the blinds when I woke. At first, I wasn’t sure of where I was, just who I was with. Ava had shifted during the night, her ass pressed against my cock as I was now on my side and my hand holding her breast. Her hair had come loose and was partially over my face. I moved my hand from her tits and brushed it gently out of the way and then noticed what had disturbed me.

My phone flashed up with a message. It was on night mode, so hadn’t made a sound, but sometimes the light would break my sleep. I should turn it off but was worried that if my sisters had an emergency they wouldn’t be able to get in touch.

I uncoiled myself from Ava and reached over to grab my phone, the thought of my sisters making me want to check that it wasn’t one of them. I was seeing them tonight for a meal at Izzy’s, so any communication was likely to be about what to bring.

It wasn’t them.

Callum:Speculation is that our youngest sister was in the Wickentree restaurant tonight with a male friend.

Jackson:We’re in the same fucking house, you tool. Why are you texting us at stupid o’clock to tell us this?

Callum:Why are you checking your phone at stupid o’clock, dickwad?

Max:Ava said she couldn’t get here on Friday because a friend was having a crisis. She didn’t say what the crisis was.

Callum:But we can speculate. She has been acting weird recently.

Jackson:Weird for Ava is normal. I’m going to sleep. Can you all keep it quiet in the morning? I want Van to get some rest.

Callum:Pussy whipped much, Jacks?

Jackson:She’s having our baby. She gets whatever she needs, wants or desires. One day you’ll understand. Or maybe not.

Maxwell:Jeez, Jacks. That’s a bit deep for a Friday night.

Seph:Saturday morning.

Callum:Pedant. So Owen told Payton that he saw Ava in the Wickentree with a dark haired man who looked a little familiar. Any thoughts on who this could be?

No one had answered, Callum’s message having been sent just a few minutes ago, a few hours after Seph’s. I put my phone down and wondered when Jackson had told everyone about the baby and felt guilty for Ava being here with me. The chances were that someone would’ve messaged her and she just hadn’t seen it yet.

She stirred next to me and I pressed my lips to her head, pulling her closer towards me.

“Is it time to get up?” she murmured.

“Not yet, sweetheart,” I said, the name falling from my tongue.

Ava turned over and resumed her sleep starting position. “You feel so good,” she said, not even half-awake. “And you smell good. I don’t want to go to my parents. I want to stay here.”

I laughed softly. “You need to check your phone for some good news. Then I’ll help you go back to sleep.”

She looked up at me and her eyes fluttered open. “Lemme check.” She stretched out to the bedside table, the sheets falling away from her and exposing her breasts. We’d been spent by the time we’d fallen asleep, our bodies exhausted from sex. But that didn’t mean slow morning sex wasn’t on the cards, especially when we were both still slightly asleep.

“I’ve got a message from Payts,” she said. “Wow. I’m going to be an aunt again. Vanessa’s pregnant. I didn’t think that would take long. How did you know?”

“A group message from Callum woke me up. It was mentioned in that. Congratulations, Aunty Ava.”

She put her phone face down and returned to me, pressing her lips to my chest and kissing me. “What else was in the group message?”

I combed her hair with my fingers. “Speculation that you were with someone last night that wasn’t the friend who was upset.”
