He laughs, completely unfazed.

“I told you I hate you,” I tell him flatly. “And everything your family represents. You could collapse right here, and I wouldn’t so much as move to help.”

His grin only widens.

“Damn it baby, keep talking dirty like that, but say it upstairs, while I’m buried deep inside you.”

I groan. “You’re completely unhinged.”

Something in his eyes sharpens, they are dark and possessive, yet he merely leans back, still watching me as though I am the only thing in the room.

What unnerves me most is the effect his words have on me, stirring something I refuse to acknowledge, even in the privacy of my own thoughts.

I will never sleep with Markev.

Ever.

That much, at least, is final.

Famous last words, I think grimly, swallowing hard.

Chapter 31

Milo

Octavia shoots to her feet so suddenly from where she’d been lounging on the floor that it snaps the room to attention.

“All right, girls,” she announces, a wild grin spreads over her lips. “Time to get ready for our night out.”

The room stills.

My eyes lock on her as I flick my lighter open and shut, the soft click grounding me while I watch every single man in the room look at her.

I have to actively restrain myself from setting something on fire.

Firstly, because how dare they look at my woman.

And secondly, did she just say night out?

As in clubs, parties, drinks.

Men who would look at her and want what is mine.

Nah.

Not a chance in hell.

Arlo tilts his head, his eyes narrowing. “Night out?”

“Yes,” she replies sweetly, her eyes glittering. “A night out. Girls only. Men are tragically uninvited.”

She pauses, then adds, almost idly, “On second thought, you can keep Reyes with you.”

Adelaide leans back against the sofa. “How considerate of you,” she says. “Though I can’t imagine you’ll need me there to hold your hair when you inevitably drink yourself into poor decisions.”

Octavia’s head snaps toward her.

“That’s rich,” she says coldly. “Coming from someone who’s built an entire personality on poor decisions.”
