“Shh,” Atlas hissed as he pulled Adam closer.
“What’s happening?” Adam whispered to him. Their faces were only an inch apart.
Atlas blinked. Then he forced his eyes closed and counted to ten before opening them again.
Huh, it was still there.
Adam…Adam glowed.
“What’s wrong with you?” Atlas asked him.
Adam’s smile wavered. “Uh, pretty sure I’m the same awesome guy as always. You’re the one acting strange.”Atlas shook his head. “You’re glowing.”
“Glowing?” Adam asked. “What does that mean?”
He didn’t even know. Instead of the flickers that Atlas normally saw, there was a green shimmer around Adam. “You…I…”
“What do you see, Atlas?” The question came from Lucifer. His voice calm and quiet.
Atlas took a deep breath. “Adam’s not flickering,” Atlas told him. “At all. Instead, there’s a green shimmer that kind of makes him glow.”
“His aura,” Mal stated. “Are you seeing his aura?”
Atlas had no clue.
“No flickers at all?” Bel questioned.
“None.” Atlas didn’t understand what was happening.
“Hold on,” Lucifer suggested. “Gage, can you shift and come over here please.”
Oh! Yeah, that was smart. Gage was a shifter. If something was happening with Atlas’s flickers, they needed another shifter.
“What’s going on?” Gage’s voice was soft.
Atlas released Adam and turned to look at Gage. Holy shit! Gold. Gage had a gold hue around him that shimmered.
Bel stepped up behind Atlas, pulling him back against Bel’s wide chest. Having his mate’s hands on him allowed Atlas to catch his breath. To think. To analyze what was happening.
“What do you see?” Lucifer asked.
“Gold,” Atlas said. “Very gold, beautiful.”
“His aura,” Lucifer said. “You’re seeing his aura.”
“Why?” Atlas asked. What had changed? He’d been seeing flickers his entire life.
“May I?” Lucifer stepped in front of him.
Atlas stiffened and Bel’s arms circled his waist. “May you what?”
“I would like to use my magic to see what changed,” Lucifer responded.
“Okay.” Atlas licked his lips nervously. The last time Lucifer had done this, Atlas found out that he was a quarter demon.
“It will be fine. Perfectly safe,” Lucifer assured him. He gently cupped Atlas’s face.
“I know.” Atlas wasn’t worried about Lucifer hurting him. The king of hell was the gentlest person that Atlas had ever met except for his mate. Atlas was terrified of what new change was happening now.
