Her tongue poked out and touched the top of her mouth. “You’ll make me nervous if you drive home now.”

“That’s sweet. I’ll stop and get some coffee at Dunks. It’ll be fine.”

She shook her head. “No, then you won’t be able to sleep with the caffeine in you, and after all these late nights, you need your sleep. Are you working tomorrow?”

What was she asking? “No, though I’ll check in to make sure a few of my patients are doing fine. Why?”

Her gaze lowered then rose again. “I think you should stay here tonight. That way you won’t get in an accident, and I won’t worry. You can also go to sleep right now instead of later.”

“Are you sure? You’re okay with that? Mercedes won’t mind?”

This time she did roll her eyes. “Is my place not good enough for you? Not as elegant as your condo? Mercedes is visiting her parents on the Cape tonight.”

“Okay.” He laughed. “You’ve got a house guest.”

As they locked up the house and shut the lights off, his mind lingered on her words about sleeping right now. With her in his arms, he wasn’t sure sleeping would be the first thing he wanted to do.

The light in her room flashing on and off woke Carli from her comfortable slumber. Rubbing her eyes, she looked toward the door where Mercedes peeked in.

Hey, I’m back. You left your phone in the kitchen and it’s flashing. Wasn’t sure if it was from Blake—Her roommate’s eyes opened wide, as did her mouth.

Blake stirred behind her, emerging from under the covers where he’d snuggled with her all night. He kissed her neck, then fell back when he saw Mercedes in the doorway.

Oh, God, sorry. And she was out the door again.

Carli chuckled and lay down, turning to see Blake’s grimace and his flushed cheeks. She rubbed her eyes to focus on his lips as he spoke.

“I’m sorry. I should have left earlier.”

“It’s fine. I kind of like having you here. And Mercedes is aware of what boys and girls do together. It’s unlikely we’ve scarred her for life.”

“Good. What exactly is it that boys and girls do together? I’m a little slow. I might need a demonstration.”

Carli swatted at him. “Didn’t you get enough of that last night? I thought you were tired. You fell asleep during the news, then seemed to find all sorts of energy.”

“News is boring. You aren’t. I’m not sure I could ever get enough.”

His hands and lips distracted her for a bit, but she had things to do today. Unfortunately.

“How about you help me make breakfast? That’ll give both your hands and mouth something else to do.”

“I like what they’re doing now,” he said kissing her again. “Don’t you?”

“Very much, but I promised my mother I’d help her with a few things today, so I can’t really linger in bed.”

“How about you promise me to linger in bed another time.”

His smirk highlighted those adorable dimples. How could she refuse? Lingering in bed with him sounded decadent. It was time she did things for herself. But…

“Sure, if you can find time and don’t have patients to take care of.”

Blake frowned and guilt blossomed across his features. “I deserved that. I’ll find the time. Now, let’s make that breakfast.”

They dressed quickly, and Carli teased him about wearing yesterday’s clothes.

“I’m not sure I have anything you’d fit into. Maybe this.” She held up a bright pink, fuzzy bathrobe. “It’s only fair after borrowing all your clothes last week.”

“It’s fine, but speaking of borrowing things…you don’t happen to remember where you left that flannel you loved so much, do you?”
