After a while, Sebastian grabs the soap and washes me, handing me the shampoo so that I can squeeze it into his palm. This isn’t the first time he’s bathed me, or the first bath we’ve shared. Because as strained as the last year has been, we’vealways had this closeness. Closing my eyes, I tip my head back and allow myself to relax as my husband massages shampoo into my scalp just the way I like. Once he’s rinsed the shampoo, he smooths conditioner through my hair, then pulls me down to lie on his chest while his fingers probe at my sore ass and pussy.
“How sore are you?” he asks, sounding concerned.
“Sore,” I admit.
“We can take another bath later if you want, and I’ll grab you some Tylenol when we’re done in here. Your cunt’s not too sore though, is it?” he asks, already knowing the answer. Having sex multiple times a day is pretty normal for us, especially in the last few weeks since we’ve been experimenting with free use.
“No, it’s a little sore, but it’s fine.”
“Good, because I’m not anywhere close to being done with you yet,” he says with a knowing smirk.
After we get out of the bath, change the sheets, and then climb back into bed, Sebastian receives a phone call from the chief of police, advising him that they found texts and emails between Tom and a second person. Of course, we know exactly what they found, because Clay is the one who hacked both Tom and Courtney’s cells and Tom’s laptop and made sure that all of their communication was easy for the police to find. Playing dumb, Sebastian acts shocked as Chief Turner assures him that they’re interrogating Tom and hope to have the name of his accomplice soon.
“Do you think he’ll tell the police who Courtney is?” I ask after he ends the call.
“He did all of this for her, at her suggestion. I’d be surprised if he tells the police about her, knowing she’ll get into trouble.”
“I need to tell you something,” I say.
“What?” he asks cautiously.
“I’m not sure what we should do to Courtney,” I admit.
“I thought you had a plan?”
“I did. But ruining her reputation and bankrupting her doesn’t seem like enough when she was plotting to get someone to hurt me.”
“I agree,” Sebastian says, his expression darkening.
“But I don’t want to kill her. That’s a line that you can’t come back from, even if you never get caught.”
Sebastian thinks about it for a long moment before he reluctantly agrees. “I know. Although it’s what she deserves,” he growls angrily.
“But I’m not sure what lands between ruination and death on the punishment scale,” I admit.
“Hmm, utter destruction without death. I’ll need to think about that,” he says, hugging me a little closer.
“I still don’t get why she’s doing this, if you and her were never a thing. Why bother? We’ve been together for years; she must have known that we got married. I mean, your parents put the announcement in every single society page they could find.”
“I don’t know, Little Bird,” he sighs.
“Did we look into her family? Are her parents okay financially? Does she need money? Although if this was about money, she’d have asked for that, not for me to divorce you,” I say, immediately answering my own question.
“I’ll ask Clay to look into her parents. But in the meantime, I don’t want you leaving the house at all, not even with your security. Especially not with your security. We’re assuming that only Tom was involved, but until we’ve done a full investigation of all of the people protecting you, I don’t think we should trust them.”
“Do you think James knew what he was doing?” I ask, my voice weak.
“No, I don’t. We spoke to him before we called the cops.”
“Wait?” I shout, pushing away from his chest. “You called the cops?”
Snickering, he nods. “Yes, Little Bird. You said you didn’t care what happened to Tom, as long as he never set foot in our home again. So, I called the cops and our lawyers.”
“Oh my god,” I say, hearing the shock in my voice. “I can’t believe you called the cops instead of…I don’t know, destroying him and his entire family.”
“Tom isn’t one of us. His family isn’t to blame for his actions, and they don’t deserve to suffer because he’s an idiot who got pussy-whipped by a girl.”
“So, no revenge? No ruin or destruction?” I question, surprised.
