“Fina!”
She’s wearing a shirt that hits mid-thigh, and her hair is a mess, but there are no obvious injuries. Not physical ones, anyway.
When I reach her, she sniffs and wipes her eyes, attempting a feeble smile.
“Love the dress, babe.”
“Oh? This is my sex club outfit. Easy access, see?” I gesture up and down. “No panties.”
Angelo’s expression turns murderous. “Please tell me you wore underwear for this trip.”
“Um, no?”
“You and I will be having words later, princess!”
“Um, there’s something I need to tell you both…” My words trail off as I picture Lorenzo lying dead in a pool of blood. Fuck. I hope they’re not mad…

“Ican’t believe you shot my father.”
I can’t decide whether Angelo is happy about it. Right now, the only vibe I’m getting is disbelief.
“Welcome to the Dead Father Club.” Thea cackles loudly before grabbing the last blueberry muffin. “Damn, these are good. Kyril! Offer Dom more money so he comes and cooks for us. If you poach him, you’ll be my favorite husband!”
“No.”
“Spoilsport,” she mutters. “So, are you up for a match in the ring next month?” She addresses my husband with an eager grin. I expect him to scoff and say something derogatory about how he doesn’t fight women. Instead, he nods.
“Sure.”
Thea’s grin widens. “Good. I’m bored with the usual opponents. They’re no challenge anymore.”
“But first, I’m taking my wife on her overdue honeymoon.”
The cup in my hand slips from my fingers. Tepid coffee spills all over the table. Luka grabs a cloth and mops it up while I stare at Angelo in shock. “Honeymoon?”
“Yes, princess. I have some loose ends to tie up, but after that, we leave for Saint Kitts.”
“I can’t leave the animals! Horatio doesn’t like Coco.” The grumpy asshole shouts at her when she scratches at doors to be let in or out. He’s not mad keen on Felix, either, but at least my cat stays out of his way.
“I’ll be here, so she can stay with me,” Fina says. She’s barely said a word since the kidnapping, but after a trip to the hospital to see Matteo, there’s a bit of color in her cheeks.
“I thought it wasn’t safe yet with Remington still on the loose?”
Angelo waves his hand dismissively. “Not for long. Milo tracked him down to a motel near the Mexican border. He paid a fixer to produce a fake ID for him, but the fixer sold him out. The FBI should be arresting him around now.”
Kyril’s phone buzzes. He reads the message and nods. “He’s in custody.”
“I can’t believe he didn’t come looking for his wife.” As much as I hate Vivian, I also feel a teeny bit sorry for her. It must sting that the man she married cared so little about her he didn’t bother taking her with him when he ran.
Angelo shrugs. “I’m not. She’d become a liability. Besides, he must have known it was she who gave us the information we needed to find Fina.”
He makes a good point. Angelo let her go when we got back here. I have no clue where she’ll end up, but knowing her, she has money stashed away. That woman is a born survivor.
“She has an arrest warrant out in her name, so she won’t get far,” Angelo adds.
