His heat hit my back and his arms wound around me, pulling me into his body.
I leaned against him, wrapped in his comforting presence. “The view is amazing. In fact, the whole apartment is.”
He kissed my head, and I soaked in his attention. “I’m glad you like it. It took me a while to renovate, but it was worth it.”
Gunner was an enigma. How could he go from a tiny cabin in the woods to a lavish penthouse apartment? They were such opposites.
He turned out to be so different from the man I first met. Gone was the brooding jerk, replaced with the attentive and gentle man currently holding me.
His touches were addictive. I flourished beneath his hungry looks and skilled hands.
Not one to shy away from a chance to get closer, I turned around, bringing us face to chest. I looked up, meeting his smoldering gaze with my own.
His eyes made promises I couldn’t wait for him to fulfill. The electricity of his every touch made me shiver in anticipation.
He bent down, and our lips met in a scorching kiss, the possessive way he held me and bent my body to his will only adding to my arousal. My heart took a leap as I arched into him, holding him to me like he could disappear at any moment.
He buried one of his hands in my hair, holding me just as desperately, his other arm wound tight around my body.
I locked myself in his embrace, thinking I could never get enough of him. We walked backward, and the cold window glass hit my exposed shoulders.
He didn’t waste time and lifted my leg, running his hand up my thigh and under the short dress I’d thrown on after he’d appeared in my room. I was all too eager to wrap it around him, tilting my head back. His mouth found my neck and blazed a scorching-hot trail down to my shoulder.
Gunner’s lips were hovering above mine, and when he spoke, each word was a caress. “I can’t get enough of you. You are everything to me. I want you in my life, no matter what that might look like. And no, this is not too fast. I know what I want, and that is you, any way I can have you.”
I’d needed to hear his words more than I’d realized. We didn’t know where this was going, but we both knew we wanted it. And he’d just taken all my fears out of my heart, replacing them with butterflies and warmth.
My hands went under his shirt, raising it up and over his head. He arched back to get it off, and I kissed his jaw. “I think I might be falling for you.”
The words had barely left my mouth when he lifted me up. I wound my other leg around him and he stepped into me, suspending me between his body and the glass.
While I was more than down with where this was going, I was forever paranoid, especially when it came to my almost naked butt against the window. “I hope this glass is reinforced, or tonight might have a different ending than we wanted.”
Gunner smiled against my cheek. “I would never put you in danger. But if it makes you feel better, not even a bullet could break this glass.”
His lips found mine again, and I soon forgot all about my possible demise and instead lost myself in the sensations overtaking my body.
I reveled in his open admiration; each whispered word and touch of his lips heightened my pleasure.
Gunner’s hand caressed my spine, landing on my butt. “These need to go.”
That was my only warning before he ripped my underwear off my body. I never thought it would be that easy to rip cotton. Lucky for him, I was wearing a pair that had been washed too many times to count and were a little worse for wear. But they were as comfortable as undies could get, and I wasn’t planning on things taking such a glorious turn tonight.
I never considered myself submissive, but his caveman act was turning me on. The tingling in my stomach turned into a raging storm, overtaking my body.
I raised an amused brow at him when he pulled a condom out of his pocket. His boyish grin made him look carefree and much younger. “I knew where I wanted tonight to go. And I’m nothing if not prepared. Not that this is what I brought you here for. I would have been happy to just spend time with you. But I’m glad the night went this way—”
I put a finger over his mouth, stopping his rant. I fought the urge to laugh out loud, not wanting him to think I was laughing at him. His unusual nervousness was endearing and made me want him that much more.
I replaced my finger with my mouth for a light kiss before pulling back. “I’m not complaining.”
He slid me down his body to put on the condom before picking back up where we’d left off.
A delightful shiver of want traveled through me when he lined himself up. And when we were finally joined, my heart hammered against my ribs, threatening to jump out. But this would be the best way to go.
Every stroke pushed me higher, sending quivers through my veins. The warmth of his arms, so comforting, so strong, made me feel cherished, the contrast of the cold glass at my back a new and delicious sensation.
And when we tipped over the edge together, I held on with everything I had, never wanting this moment to end.
