I made sure everyone was out the door before getting in the car. Gunner drove us back to the apartment, Jude in the passenger seat again.

I had a feeling one of my brothers would be close at all times from now on. I should probably get used to having eyes on me again.

Not that it had ever really changed.

Chapter19

Gunner

I hated leaving Freya behind. But I had to make sure the Irish would never get as close as they did last night, which meant, after driving her back to Ferguson, I had to leave her in the care of her brothers.

And now I was on my way to catch a flight to San Francisco, trying to salvage what had turned into the most important mission of my life. Carter was driving, Blake following in another car behind us.

“Did you find out who it is?” I asked Carter. I’d made sure to call him at the first stop on our way back from the cabin.

He was the only one I trusted right now and the one I’d tasked with finding our leak.

Carter shook his head. “Not yet. But I’m getting closer. I found an email on the server they tried to delete. They clearly didn’t know how awesome I am when it comes to computers.”

“And so humble too.” I snorted. “I want to know as soon as you find something. This takes priority.”

“Do you really think I’d do anything else until I catch the asshole who’s selling us out? Every single man at Locked Security is family. We take care of our own, and someone just shat all over what we’ve built.”

I grunted in agreement and went back to the computer sitting on my lap. It was time to cash in a few favors.

“Where are you planning to meet Cian?” Carter asked.

“The warehouse. It’s far enough out of the way so nobody innocent gets hurt if things go sideways. And you can set up next door.”

I sent the email I had been typing and closed my computer. “Where’s Cian right now?”

The only way he’d talk to me was if I met him in person. And in order to set up an official meeting between Cian and Liam for tomorrow, I’d have to be wherever Cian was.

“At the Clover. If anything changes or he moves location, I’ll let you know,” Carter said, pulling into the airport parking lot.

Blake parked next to us, and we all got out. We’d leave the cars here, and someone would come collect them.

The flight was quick, and since we were in public, we didn’t get a chance to talk much. Blake was quiet, which wasn’t unusual for him, and Carter flirted with the flight attendant, which was also not unusual.

My mind was on Freya, not the Irish and the mission ahead, something that was definitely unusual. This wasn’t the time to be distracted. I had to make sure to get this right or I would start a war. But forcing my mind back on the mission at hand had never been harder.

I spent the rest of the flight planning the meet. As soon as we were in the car, I made calls. Carter was driving and Blake was in the back seat, giving me a chance to fire off a few messages that couldn’t wait.

“Carter, you’re outside the Clover tonight. Set up at the bakery across the road. We’re going there as soon as we drop Blake at the office.” I turned around, startling Blake, who was on his phone when I spoke. “I need you to get a team together to be backup at the factory for tomorrow.”

“You got it,” he said, looking distracted.

“Who’s going inside the Clover with you?” Carter asked, glancing at me from the corners of his eyes.

“I’m going solo,” I said, flicking through the messages on my phone.

He scoffed. “Hell no you’re not.”

I didn’t look up from my phone. “Last I checked, I was still the boss. And I’m going on my own.”

“That’s reckless and you know it.”

“It’s what I’m doing, so deal with it.”
