“That is so.”
I nod—and keep nodding until I resemble a bobblehead. “I like you, too.”
“I thought you did from the other night, and then you went and...whatever.” She grins. “Despite what you might have thought from first impressions, I’m very likeable.”
“You told me to bite you,” I remind her.
“I wouldn’t mind that.” She says it with a straight face and I find myself holding my breath until she laughs with delight, her eyes a sparkling green.
“Maybe we could have dinner first this time. And—” I have to swallow my uncertainty first. “I do have a bed.”
Rachel gives a Cheshire cat grin as she leans towards me. “I look forward to meeting that bed.”
I sway towards her. “There’s something I want to do first.”
“Kiss me madly until I can’t stand up? Because I’m good with that.” She moves closer to me on the couch, with both hands on my chest, and smiles at me with that kissable mouth.
“Er… um… yeah…” I lean down to meet that mouth, forgetting everything, even my name. “Wait.”
“This better be good,” she mutters.
“I want to meet your dog. Rusty.”
I will never forget the way she clutches her hands to her chest, how her face lights up. “Really?”
“If ever there’s a good reason for me to get over my fear, I think now is the time.”
“Okay.” She grabs my hand and pulls me to my feet. “But don’t like him too much.”
And then like it’s already a habit, she reaches up and kisses me. The way her lips slide over mine, how her body fits against mine—I can get used to this.
It takes a while for us to get back to her place.
And eventually, Rusty and I become friends.
Rachel and I? Well, we’re a lot more than friends.

About the Author
Holly Kerr is the author of seventeen chick-lit, romantic comedy, and women's fiction novels, but don't ask her to explain the differences in the genres. She grew up a farm girl but now calls Toronto home, where she lives with her three very tall children, following their sports exploits like any dutiful mother. She's a lover of Marvel movies, Star Wars movies...really, any movies, and has a surprising amount of worthless pop culture info stored in her head. She likes oceans over mountains, tea over coffee, and can mix a darn fine dirty martini, with extra olives, of course.
