The oppositeof love is not hate, but indifference.
I don’t know who said that, but it’s a brilliant line. And it’s true. Love and hate are both powerful emotions, probably the strongest there are in the human repertoire. There’s such a fine line between them it’s sometimes difficult to tell them apart.
When you really want to get back at an ex, you don’t tell them you hate them; you say that you don’t care. Because that’s what indifference is; you don’t think about them; you don’t wish them well, or hope they rot in the farthest reaches of hell on a good day.
It’s nothing.
Indifference is all well and good, but what happens when you’re pulling for it, and the person does something that seriously pisses you off? It’s hard to get back there unless you do something about it.
