Mason answered for me. “We’ll be there. Good night, Mom.”

We silently walked back to Mason’s room, and I was pressed up against the wall and kissing Mason as soon as the door shut behind us.

The perfect ending to a perfect wedding.

“We’ll never get the Viper done if you don’t stop interrupting,” Landon griped and sighed very long and very loud.

I was too busy giving him the finger while kissing Mason to respond. Turned out that Mason was the perfect boyfriend, and I was addicted.

One hurdle we hadn’t managed to overcome was my engagement to David. I hadn’t been back to his house or spoken to him since Willa’s wedding. It was pretty clear that we couldn’t continue our engagement, but I hadn’t figured out a way to get out of it.

As Willa suggested, I talked to Jameson’s lawyer who told me that the only way out was to leave the state for a few months. And of course Nora might lose her apartment if my mother was feeling especially vindictive. Which was highly likely.

As a result, I hadn’t talked to David yet and officially our engagement still existed. Unofficially I stayed with Mason and couldn’t have been happier, despite not knowing what the future would bring.

It was my last days at the office and Mason’s workload had eased significantly since Jameson had come back. Willa and Jameson only took a two-day honeymoon since they had just come back from a big trip.

Willa had come back to the office this morning, which meant we could make supply runs and catch up on everything we’d missed out on while she’d been away.

I still had no direction on what to do with my life, but for the first time I was happy. Blissfully, irrevocably happy. And if the smile Mason was giving me was any indication, then he felt the same way. At least I hoped he did.

“Stella, get your butt back in here, we’re not done yet,” Willa yelled from the open office door.

“I’m coming. Geesh, you’d think she was performing lifesaving surgery, and I’d walked out halfway through,” I grumbled and kissed Mason one last time.

“Hold that thought,” Mason said and palmed my butt.

“What thought?” I asked, distracted.

“The first one,” he replied and let me go. It took me a few seconds to catch up, but once I did I smiled at him and said, “You’re on. Better finish up early tonight. We apparently have plans.”

“I think I just threw up a little,” Landon gagged next to us.

I ignored him and went back to the office. Willa was at the computer, typing something into a word document.

“About time you got back in here,” she complained but smiled at the same time. “You know what this means, right?”

“No, but I’m sure you’ll enlighten me,” I responded and sat down on the chair next to her. We were going through all the schedules and orders, getting everything ready to change our programs over. The one currently in use was ancient and half our time was spent fixing mistakes rather than doing actual work.

“We’re going to be sisters! With the same last name. This is so exciting.”

The perma-smile on my face grew even bigger. “I always wanted a sister.”

“Don’t forget you’ll get a brother as well,” she pointed out with a smirk.

I loved the idea. Even if we were getting slightly ahead of ourselves. I wasn’t even officially living with Mason yet. And it was probably a bit too early for a wedding announcement.

My life was so different than a few weeks ago, I barely recognized myself. But I liked this new version of myself and would do everything to hold on to it.

We kept working on saving all the data, while answering phones and scheduling new work. It was almost four when Mason came into the office.

“Hey, princess,” he greeted me and plucked me out of the chair and kissed me.

“Hey,” I said once he put me down on my feet.

“I like this,” Willa said, pointing at the two of us.

“We’re going to head out,” Mason said.
