Maybe the mating drug isn’t gone completely, it was just dormant while he wasn’t around. Now his taste is on my lips, and his touch is on my skin, all I want is Eskar.

He presses one finger inside me and uses his thumb to tease my clit. I arch up, needing more. Then he is between my legs the way he wanted to be, and his breath is on my inner thighs. I let my legs fall further open in invitation.

And he laps at my clit and the swollen lips of my pussy as his finger moves inside me. First one, then another. I want to be the cure he needs. His mate. I come, clenching around his fingers, breathless as my heart pounds hard.

Eskar rolls onto his back, drawing me with him so I’m on top, straddling his hips. The hard length of his dick dark against the pale, almost white skin of his belly. I run one finger along his length. Even the skin of his cock is rough, the head thick and begging to be licked, though I’m not sure how much I’d get in my mouth. While there is nothing alien about his dick, the size gives me reason to wonder if I’m up to the task of mating with a Paohl.

I glance up, and he’s watching me, waiting for me.

He claimed me as his mate the first time he saw me. Now I have to claim him as mine. I rise up and adjust my position before taking just the tip in to me. With each breath I take a little more of his length, but not the whole way. He is stretching me, filling me.

Eskar drags me close for another kiss. One of his hand grabs my hip and for a moment I think he’s going to impale me, but instead he lifts me slightly. “I need you. I want you to fuck me. Make me yours.”

“You are.” No matter what happens, that will be true.

He keeps his hand on my hip as I ride him, taking him a little deeper each time. His other hand finds my clit so every time I sink down, I shudder with pleasure. The knot of another orgasm is building, coiling through my blood, and taking over my body.

“Yes.” He whispers, urging me on. “Make me come.”

I move faster. The rough skin of his dick torments nerves I didn’t know I had. I bite my lip to keep from crying out as I shatter into star dust. He groans, and his dick pulses within me as he comes. Our breathing is fast, but something is different.

I don’t have to ask him, because his love and desire flows through me. From the curve on his lips, I know he senses mine for him.

“It worked,” I murmur as I place my hand over his heart to feel it beating beneath my palm. I am his cure…his mate. The mating bond is complete.

“It did.” He grins. “Mate.” He says it again, and then kisses me. His expression filled with love and awe that makes me want to melt. “I never dreamed I’d be so lucky.”

“It wasn’t luck. It was you breaking the rules and saving my life.”

Instead of dying in the water, I’ve become water and found a life I could’ve never imagined.

Fueling the Fire

I givechase to the little orbs made of light.

I know I shouldn’t leave the campsite but there are voices, people, in the forest. The little lights bounce through the trees back to whoever sent them and the monstrous beasts into our campsite. I’m determined to find out who it was and to stop them.

I pause by a tree, listening and hearing only my own breathing, and my pulse in my ears. My gun is solid and familiar in my hands. The snarling of the beasts, the shooting, and the shouting has gotten quieter. Have I gone too deep into the forest? I almost turn back. I don't want to get lost, but I want to hunt down those who attacked us. Anger burns in my veins.

If I don’t catch them, they will attack again. Following these orbs might be my only chance. Next time the cowards may not be so careless. Leah was right. This fucking planet is cursed.

Something flickers to my left. I lift my gun. I don’t know if the bullets will hurt the orb or go through it. I don’t even know what the orb is made of, but they look like little glowing suns in all different colors. I creep closer, moving silently over the forest floor. My heart hammers, but my hands are steady. I've been playing with weapons since I was old enough to walk and killing monsters since I was ten. Whatever is out here doesn't scare me.

No, it pisses me off. We crashed and we're stranded and now some asshole is trying to kill us. It's not like we want to be here. But it doesn't help that our ship is sitting at the bottom of the lake and we can’t make contact with anyone off world.

We were lucky to run into the Paohl—survivors of a crash eking out an existence. But there is clearly more than just the Paohl living here. How many other aliens have crashed?

And why would they want us dead?
