The feel of him inside her sent ripples of electricity all over her body, heat welling up through her core and into her chest. All she could do was lean forward and rest her hands on his chest, breathing deep and reveling in the moment.

“You feel so amazing,” Carter breathed, gazing up at her like she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.

To say that his expression was good for her ego would be a drastic understatement. It made her feel warm all over, like spending the day on a blanket at the beach. A small part wondered if their soul mate connection was responsible for how perfect this all seemed. Then she decided to stop thinking so much and simply enjoy it.

Hadley slipped a hand between her legs, tracing small circles on her clit, rotating her hips the tiniest bit. The tingles began to build fast and she knew she was close to orgasm. But then she felt Carter’s hands slide up her thighs, slowly tightening on her hips. He began to move her, lifting her up and down effortlessly. Watching the muscles in his forearms flex as he moved her was fascinating. Not as fascinating as the feeling of him inside her, but still, taken together, it was extremely nice.

She fell forward onto his chest, burying her face against his neck, breathing in his scent. She tried to tell him how good what he was doing felt, but the only thing that came out of her mouth was a long string of moans and gasps of delight.

The climax that hit her came out of nowhere. One second, she was mewling in pleasure, Carter thrusting with a steady pace, and the next, she was digging her fingernails into his shoulders as she screamed out in pleasure.

Her climax seemed to go on forever, leaving her loose-limbed and gooey, her mind spinning at the knowledge that she’d just experienced the best sex of her life. She lay there in a blissed-out haze until she realized Carter hadn’t come.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, lifting her head to gaze at him.

Why hadn’t he finished with her?

Before she could get the words out, Carter flipped her over, his strong body coming to rest between her thighs, his hardness still buried inside her.

“Nothing’s wrong at all,” he said hoarsely, resting his forearms to either side of her head, his mouth coming down to cover hers with urgent kisses. “Everything is perfect.”

Carter’s first thrust was slow but forceful, thumping so deep inside her that sparks and tingles raced up and down the outside of her legs as she wrapped them around his back.

“Yes, just like that,” Hadley whispered against his mouth, wondering how she could possibly come again tonight. But as those familiar sensations began to build again she thought maybe it was possible.

Then Hadley stopped caring about what was possible and what wasn’t and wrapped her arms around Carter’s neck, enjoying the ride.

Her orgasm began to build slower this time, those telltale tingles deep in her core suggesting this one was going to leave her ruined for life. Above her, Carter’s eyes were a vivid, neon blue, the tips of sharp white fangs visible over his lower lip. His omega was clearly present in the throes of his pleasure, but instead of concerning her, she felt exhilarated, as if she was now truly connecting to both parts of her soul mate.

Hadley dragged his head down to nuzzle his face in her neck, squeezing her arms and legs around him tightly as she went over the edge. When she felt Carter’s fangs graze her neck, she completely lost it. The wave she’d been riding washed over her completely and things got more than a little fuzzy.

She came back to awareness slowly, feeling warmth under her cheek and a gently thrumming sound. It took her a moment to realize she was lying on Carter’s very expansive, very muscular chest. The sound she was hearing was his heartbeat. She hadn’t even felt him pull up the blanket to cover them. Obviously, she’d been more out of it than she’d realized.

Greatest. Sex. Ever.

Hadley pushed herself upright and kissed him. “That was amazing,” she murmured as their lips teased one another’s for a moment before she went back to lying on his chest again. “Your omega made an appearance when you were coming. Your eyes were blue and your fangs were out.”

Carter tensed under her and Hadley worried for a second that he was about to launch into panic mode. But when the moment passed without fireworks, she let out a little sigh of relief.

“You were okay with that?” he asked slowly, one of his hands sliding up and down her back in a protective gesture. “It didn’t scare you?”

“Your omega is a part of you,” she pointed out softly, gently pressing her lips to the wolf tattoo on his chest. “Why would it bother me that it made an appearance? It isn’t like you were out of control. If anything, it seemed like you and your omega were perfectly in sync right then.”

“Do you think my omega was so chill because we were in the middle of sex?” Carter mused after a long moment of silence.

She considered that. “Maybe. But it could also be the fact that we’ve both acknowledged our soul mate bond. If so, maybe your control issues might be less of a problem.”

“Actually, that might already be happening,” he said, then explained how he’d been mostly aware of everything that had happened on the rooftop after his omega had taken over. “I wasn’t in charge, but at least I was seeing and feeling what was going on.”

“That’s great!” Hadley pushed upright again to smile down at him. “Maybe you and your omega are finally making peace with each other.”

Carter didn’t say anything but simply tugged her down for a kiss. Then he gazed up at her, fingers toying with her hair. “I’m hopeful for the first time in forever. It’s kind of like a belated birthday present.”

“Birthday?” she murmured, trying to remember if she’d seen the date in her records or if it’d come up in conversation, but couldn’t remember seeing it anywhere. “When was your birthday.”

“A few weeks ago,” he said. “October twenty-third. I don’t really celebrate it, so I pretty much forgot about it.”

Hadley’s head spun. She would have asked more questions if it wasn’t for the fact that Carter’s eyes had already drifted closed and he’d fallen asleep. While she settled down on his chest again, she didn’t fall asleep. She couldn’t ignore the fact that all of his control issues seemed to have started three weeks ago around the time of his birthday.
