“I never got a chance to ask, but what happened down there?” she wondered. “Did you see Hannah?”
Trevor shook his head, then told her what had happened down in the tunnels, including the details he’d gotten from Mike and Connor. “We didn’t see anyone who looked like Hannah, but there are definitely more than a few people being held captive down there. There’s a chance we could have found her if we could have kept looking, but one of the ghouls spotted Isaac, and the creatures sent up an alarm that roused the whole place.”
Jenna seemed to consider all that for a moment before nodding once again. “Do you really think Davina will be able to find another way into the tunnels?”
“If anyone can, it’s Davina,” Trevor said confidently, thinking of all the ancient-looking books and maps she’d had spread across her office when he and his pack mates had stopped in to talk to her that afternoon. “We’re going to check in with hertomorrow morning to see what she’s come up with. I’m hoping for the best.”
“Okay, but what are we going to do even if she does find another way down there?” Jenna asked. “We didn’t exactly come off too well in our first run-in with those creatures.”
“I can’t say you’re wrong about that,” Trevor admitted, enveloping Jenna in his arms again and resting his chin on the top of her head. She pressed herself to him and wrapped her arms around him, squeezing tight. “But we need to get those people out of there—your sister included—so we’re going to have to come up with some way to make it work. I don’t know how yet. I just know that we will.”
“I can’t ask you to do that,” Jenna said, her words soft as she kept her face pressed to his chest. “It was one thing to go down into those tunnels to look around, but it’s something completely different to go back now that we know what we’re up against. I can’t ask you to risk your life like that.”
“You aren’t asking. I’m offering,” Trevor murmured, pressing his lips to her hair, losing himself for a few seconds in her incredible scent. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you—and your sister.”
Jenna pulled back again, eyes gleaming with fresh tears. “How in the world did I get so lucky to find you? If I’d never gone to Dallas to try and talk Connor into helping me, I would never have metyou and you would never have come out to LA, and we would never have…this.”
Trevor could hear Jenna’s heart thump a little faster at the idea that something could have come between them meeting. It made him wish he could tell her about this whole soul mate thing. It must be confusing and overwhelming for her to be feeling all these emotions and not have a clue where it was all coming from.
“I don’t think you need to worry about that,” he said softly, resting his forehead against hers. “Something tells me that we were destined to meet. Fate would have found a way to bring us together, no matter what.”
“You know, for a big, brawny SWAT cop, you say the most romantic things,” she said with a smile, tipping her head back a little to kiss him.
Trevor kissed her back, assuming this would be the same, almost sweet but still hot kind of thing they’d been doing since he’d gotten here. But when Jenna’s hands found their way up to the back of his neck, fingers tugging at the short hair growing there, he realized that this time was going to be different.
And he sure as hell wasn’t going to complain.
Jenna let out a soft moan as he teased the tip of her tongue with his, her mouth opening to invite him in. The kiss deepened and he tugged her closer until their bodies were pressed so tightly togetherthat it was hard to tell where one of them stopped and the other started.
Trevor groaned as Jenna’s fingernails found their way into his hair and massaged his scalp, her touch sending electrical sensations zipping down his spine. Moving of their own accord, his hands slid down her back, coming to rest on the curve of her butt. As he slid his hands down to cup her bottom, she surprised him by jumping up a little, gracefully wrapping her legs around his waist and locking her ankles behind his back. Then she pulled back to gaze at him intensely.
“Will you take me to bed?” she asked demurely, her hazel eyes full of hunger. “And before you ask, yes, I’m sure. We’ve had one hell of a bizarre day, and I need to be with you right now.Reallywith you.”
Trevor leaned his head down and kissed her again, softly but with all the desire he felt in his body. Then he turned and headed out of the room and into Jenna’s, her legs still wrapped around his waist.
CHAPTER 13
When Trevor had first walked into her workshop/guest bedroom, the thought that she might end up sleeping with him tonight had never entered her mind. In fact, in those moments when she’d been sobbing against his chest, wondering how a man could be so completely clueless, she’d been much closer to smacking him than kissing him.
But after hearing Trevor explain why he’d forgotten to call her, she had to admit to being in a completely different mood. Who knew she was a sucker for a guy who’d never had anyone care about him before?
And while those kisses certainly hadn’t hurt, truthfully it was what Trevor said about the two of them being destined to meet. That fate would have found a way to bring them together, no matter what. That had done her in. Period. End of sentence.
When they reached her room, Jenna expected a mad dash straight to the bed, but instead, Trevor paused, pressing her against the wall right inside the door. With her legs around his waist the way they were, the position allowed him to grind nicely between her thighs. She moaned out loud at how good it felt.
The position also let Jenna know exactly how excited Trevor was, too. The obvious bulge in his jeans told her he wanted this as much as she did.
“I never realized how comfortable a wall could be,” Jenna murmured as Trevor continued to grind against the cleft between her legs, making her wetter and wetter as his mouth came down to nibble on the delicate skin of her neck at the same time. “I think I wouldn’t mind trying this position later after we get all these clothes out of the way.”
Trevor chuckled against her neck, sending shivers all over her body as she wiggled back and forth a little to settle her bottom a bit more into his large, oh-so-strong hands.
“I think that’s something we can arrange,” he said, his low, husky voice connecting directly with that warm place between her legs.
Trevor moved his mouth from Jenna’s neck to her jawline, tracing kisses and nips from there to her ear and then to her lips. The sensations of his warm mouth and his hard-on rocking against her core made her almost dizzy as she wondered how long he could keep this teasing up. Something told her that he’d happily do this for hours.
She was good with that.
She felt a tingling between her legs by the time Trevor pulled her away from the wall and moved across her bedroom. Jenna naturally assumed he was heading for the bed this time, but instead hestopped at the dresser, dropping his hands away and gently sitting her butt on the edge of the waist-high piece of furniture, leaving her balanced there. Her legs—which were still wrapped around his hips—were the only thing keeping her upright.
