“You don’t have to take it so easy,” she whispered as she pulled his head down and traced her lips across his ear. “I might still be tired, but I’m not made of glass. I won’t break. Promise.”

Kat felt the shiver run down his spine, though she wasn’t sure if it was the feel of her lips on his skin or the fact that she’d asked him to take her harder. Either way, it was thrilling to know she could cause such a reaction in him.

Regardless, Connor must have decided to believe her, because after a long, scorching kiss, he started thrusting a little harder. Her whole body shook as his hips slapped against the inside of her thighs.

She went back to kissing and nibbling on his ear, her fingers twisting in his hair as she whispered another endless chant, begging him togo faster, harder, never stop. Connor gave her exactly what she wanted, low, rumbling growls coming from deep in his chest as he began to pound into her harder.

Those growls had to be the sexiest sounds Kat had ever heard.

She tilted her hips up so the head of his cock glided across that one perfect spot inside her, the one that sent little tingles of pleasure rippling through her body with each thrust. Her breath caught in her throat as the heat that had been pulsing deep in her core began to build rapidly, blooming inside her like she was on fire.

“Don’t stop,” Kat gasped, sliding her hands down from his hair to his back, her nails digging in as she yanked him tighter to her body, wanting…needing…to feel his weight pressing her down into the mattress. “I’m so close.”

That feeling of heat and pressure deep inside continued to build until she was almost hyperventilating in anticipation of the climax she felt approaching. She knew it was going to be huge. Just like she knew she would never experience anything this perfect with another man.

Connor let out a low growl, his fangs grazing the sensitive skin of her neck. That was the thing that pushed her over the edge, and just like that, the world went white, and ecstasy coursed through her.

Kat buried her face in the junction of his neck and shoulder, clamping her teeth down on the muscles there out of pure instinct. Then she squeezed tightly with her arms and held on for dear life as her orgasm washed over her in endless waves that threatened to push her under and never let her back up. Connor groaned hoarsely in the middle of her climax, and knowing they were coming together made everything that much more exquisite.

She was so addled right then that she was barely aware of Connor rolling them over so she was resting comfortably on his chest. She lay there, listening to his heart thumping hard and fast under her ear, letting it slowly lull her to sleep. Right before she dropped off into slumber, she felt him pull up the sheet and blanket and then press a soft kiss on the top of her head.

Part of her agonized over the fact that she wouldn’t have this for very long before she would become a cat again, but she resolutely pushed that thought aside, deciding to enjoy what she had while she had it.

Chapter 13

“I talked to Detective Sandoval and let him know we have solid suspects that have no connection to Conrad Lloyd or Alton Marshall,” Gage said. “I obviously couldn’t tell him about the supernatural angle, but at least he and the other detectives aren’t wasting time looking for clues they’ll never find.”

“I’ve put out BOLOs on the people we fought at the farmhouse,” Trevor added, pointing at the drawings on the conference table in Gage’s office, which Rachel had helped the forensic artists come up with. “But so far we don’t have anything on them. Not even an ID.”

“Considering they can do magic, I’m not surprised,” Connor murmured from where he sat in a chair on the other side of the table. “I’ll ask Kat if it’s possible, but those faces we saw might not even be theirs.”

That announcement earned him a mutter of discontent from Hale, who was sitting beside him.

Rachel would have been there for the discussion, too, but she and Khaki had taken Kat shopping for clothes. The fact Kat had nothing to wear but his sweats and T-shirts apparently bothered his female pack mates. He couldn’t understand why. He thought she looked sexy as hell in his workout gear. Of course, she looked even better out of it.

He was abruptly interrupted from his thoughts of yesterday afternoon…and last night…and this morning by Gage going on about something else related to the witches and warlocks they’d fought at the farm.

“I talked to Davina, and she’s going to do some research to see if she can figure out what Marko might be planning to do with the kids he’s been kidnapping. Fortunately, she’s already familiar with the guy, so she knows what kind of psycho we’re dealing with.”

Davina DeMirci was a witch who ran a club out in Los Angeles that catered to the supernatural crowd, and she’d helped SWAT on a few cases involving strange creatures before. There wasn’t much the woman didn’t know about things that went bump in the night. They could definitely use her expertise.

“Did Davina have any idea whether Marko and his coven are done grabbing kids, or do we have to be worried about him kidnapping more?” Hale asked.

Gage shrugged. “She isn’t sure yet.”

Connor frowned. The mere thought of Marko’s coven grabbing more teenagers and the team having no way to stop it was infuriating. And terrifying, if he was being honest. He didn’t want to think about what might be happening to those poor kids right this minute.

“Did you bring up Kat’s situation to Davina?” Connor asked. “She seems to know a lot about how the supernatural world works, so I was hoping she’d be able to help Kat find a way to stop from turning back into a cat.”

“Yeah, I mentioned Kat and what Marko did to her,” Gage said, regarding Connor with an expression that could only be described as pity. “Davina has never heard of a familiar spell like Marko put on Kat, but she’s looking into it. Do you think Kat would be willing to talk directly with Davina and share some of the details?”

“Definitely,” Connor said.

They spent a few more minutes talking about what their next steps in the investigation would be. There were a few things they could do, like continuing to dig for a link between Addy, Ben, and Cheyenne, and looking for some connection between Marko and the farmhouse his coven had been using. But they all knew the deal. Until Kat or Davina came up with some clue about what Marko was up to, which would give them some idea of where to look next, there wasn’t much they could do.

After the meeting ended, Connor headed outside with Trevor and Hale to watch other members of the SWAT team run through the obstacle course that filled the center of the compound, climbing up one side of the training house and rappelling down the other. As usual, the whole thing turned into a competition within minutes, complete with shouting, trash-talking, and random bouts of angry snarling. At some point, the fangs would come out and somebody would try and bite somebody else. Or shove them off the building. He chuckled. That was simply the way the Pack played.

“How come you’re not heading back to your place?” Hale asked. “Gage told you to spend as much time with Kat as you needed.”
