My once aloof mood morphs instantly. I can almost feel the bones in my face as they shift into a scowl and the irises of my eyes dilate when my glacial gaze bores down to where she has placed the offensive limb. She removes her hand immediately.

She’s not a complete idiot. I’ll give her that. It’s too bad she doesn’t know when to shut her mouth because she’s about to land herself in the middle of an unmarked minefield.

“Don’t you ever fucking turn your back on me? WeARE,” she emphasizesarein a way that has the entire room paying fucking attention, “a couple and if you think you are going to try and say otherwise, I’ll just let your dad know about your little mishap over the summer.” She all but screeches, her hands now on her slender hips and blue-eyed daggers attempting to flay me where I sit.

All thoughts of the new girl and what her presence in this town could mean are forgotten in the heat of the moment. The control on my anger is completely shattered. I look over to Lev, so I don’t completely black out on this girl.

I know she’s into this shit, but this is too far for even her. My arm shoots up, catching her off guard, and before she can flinch in response I grab her cheeks, squeezing until the veins pop in my forearms. I’m relishing in knowing there will be bruises. I don’t get off on pain, but Sam’s pain is the exception. The traitorous skank.

She obviously needs a fucking reminder of who and what the fuck I am.

A rumble builds in my chest coming out in a growl, “I. Don’t. Date.” The bass in my voice should bring home my next point, but just in case I squeeze her face even harder, taking in the flood of blood rushing, under her skin, to where my calloused fingers are digging in. Lowering my head, I bring my mouth close to her, sticking out my tongue and gliding it along the shell of her ear.

The shivers that begin to rack her body as she trembles in my hold call to the monster below the surface that is threatening to come out and unleash its fury. It’s been too long since it’s been fed and who better to feed it than the she-bitch herself.

“And I certainly don’t care what you tell my father.” I whisper the next part so only she can hear, “You, however, should think very carefully before you threaten me. We both know it didn’t go so well for the last person who did.” I release her and she crumbles to the floor with a smack.

She looks up from the ground, malice evident in her cold glare. No hurt— just anger.

My lips curl in scornful amusement. “Now, you’re where you’ve always belonged.”

I turn my back on her pathetic attempt to try and bring me to heel. I knew it was a mistake to stick my dick in this bitch but I needed information, so stick my dick in her I did.

She’s lucky she was a good lay and could swallow my cock like it was an Olympic sport and she was vying for gold.

We’re the heirs of the Fraternitas. We run this town and one day we will run this world. I try to rein in my anger as I walk over to my seat. Lev, Wyatt, and Owen are all in the back of the class cackling and I give them the finger.

“Screw you, assholes,” I mutter as I approach them.

It’s Wyatt who says something first, “I told your dumbass not to stick your dick into that toxic wasteland of a pussy. Look what you have to deal with now.” He’s laughing so hard I can see the water forming in his eyes ready to leak out.

“You know she’s not going to take this dismissal and public embarrassment. She’s been planning your wedding and naming your future babies,” Owen says, covering his mouth to hide his grin while trying to compose himself and failing miserably.

Curling my fist to punch the ass in the shoulder, I respond, “Fuck her. If she knows what’s good for her, she’ll be content with the fact that she ever sampled my cock and be on her merry fucking way. We don’t have time for her shit.”

Lev chimes in, “What was that this morning? You know you didn’t help your situation any by kissing Sam and supporting her when it looked like the new girl was about to drag her.”

I’m still kicking myself for being so eager to see Ariah that I put my proverbial foot in my mouth, taking Sam’s side, and now she thinks we are a ‘we,’ when we aren't anything.

I ignore Lev’s question and look over to see Ariah taking us all in. Just observing and filing away information. Our eyes connect and she curls her lip in disdain as she looks back toward the board.

“Whatever. I’ll handle Sam, just like I’m supposed to. We need to focus on why the hell the new girl moved into our town during a selection year. That shit can’t be a coincidence and until we know what is going on, we should all stay clear of her.”

“Says the guy who got confrontational with her before the school day even started,” Wy states with a quirked brow.

“Fuck off Wy. You know we couldn’t let the shit go down. She needs to learn the lay of the land and fast. If the council thinks for one second we don’t have things in order here, they will force our hands,” I mutter out in frustration.

“Don’t you two start, and this isn’t the place for this conversation. We can meet at The Tombs. We have a few other things to discuss, and I got that information we’ve been searching for,” Owen states, and with that, our conversation halts until later.

My gaze drifts, taking one more look at the back of the girl who I know will be our downfall. I can almost feel it in every bone in my body… a feeling of foreboding.

I know senior year is about to get a whole lot more interesting, which can only mean one thing. We’re fucked.

ARIAH

Ican’t believe what I just witnessed. I guess Captainonlysaves a ho when I’m involved. I turn away from that train wreck and take my things out as the teacher walks in. As he begins to call the class to attention, I do a quick silent prayer to every higher being that he doesn’t make me introduce myself.
