“You okay there, Addison?”

I jump, not realizing Rusty had joined me. “Yep. Why?”

“You look like you’re trying to pulverize your glass.” He nods to the tumbler in my hand.

My grip is so strong that my knuckles are white. I release the glass and flex my fingers, crossing my arms over my chest. “I’m fine.”

“Well, Briggs and I are heading out. Oakley’s going with one of the guys from Reclamation Ranch, so if you’re ready, we can take you back.”

“You’re letting Oakley go off with a stranger?”

“We have her number and location. You try telling her not to do something. Maybe she’d listen to you.”

“She’s an adult. As long as someone knows where she is. I’m going to catch a ride with Juniper.”

I don’t know when I started caring about Oakley’s well-being, but the little fireball has wormed her way into my heart. I wouldn’t say she’s succeeded in us becoming best friends, but we’re sliding out of coworker territory and leaning toward friends.

Rusty leaves with a wave right as the song ends, and I watch Juniper hug Jaxon before she heads in the direction of the restroom. I don’t even realize what I’m doing until I’m clicking the lock on the bathroom door.

Chapter 14

The clickof the lock makes me jolt, looking up to find Addison leaning against the door with her arms folded across her chest and a harsh look on her face. It’s not her usual resting grumpy face. No, there’s something deeper brewing in her brown eyes.

“What are you doing in here?” I ask, trying to keep the wobble out of my voice.

I’ve never seen her with her hair down outside of the bedroom. I nearly lost my mind when I saw it falling over her strong shoulders earlier. She looks panty-meltingly good tonight, and dancing was the only way I could keep my hands to myself.

She steps away from the door, walking the few paces to where I’m in front of the sink, having just washed my hands. She cages me against the counter, her front to my back, and even though I’m slightly sweaty from dancing, the warmth from her body sends a shiver down my spine.

“I don’t know,” she rasps. “One minute I was talking to Rusty, the next I’m locking the door, intent on getting you alone.” She takes a deep breath, like she’s inhaling my scent. “What are you doing to me, Juniper Calhoun?”

My lashes flutter as one of Addison’s hands wraps around me, her palm splayed across my belly as she uses the other to move my hair to the side and places a gentle kiss on my exposed shoulder. It’s the same spot she always kisses right before she makes a mess of me.

I sigh. “I don’t know.”

Does she want an actual answer? All I know is that she’s got me all tied up in knots, especially with the way she was looking at me while I was dancing. It was more than lust.

At least, that’s what I want to believe.

“You’re driving me crazy, sunshine. Is that what you’re trying to do? Hm? You’re trying to drive me insane?”

“Not at all. I didn’t do anything.”

“You let him touch you all over. You were giggling and blushing like you wantedhimto take you home tonight. Do you want to go home with him, Juniper?”

“Who? Jaxon?”

“Yeah.Jaxon.” She spits his name like she despises the taste.

Is she… she can’t be.

“You’re jealous of him?”

“He had his hands all over you in front of everyone.”

“We weredancing. It would be hard to do that without him touching me.”

Addison rests her head against the back of mine and lets out another long breath. “I know, I know. I’m sorry. I am jealous. I have no right to be. We didn’t say this was exclusive?—”
