I smiled at him. "Yeah, I kind of figured it out when I saw the charm on it. Is that a liquor bottle?" I squinted my eyes to make sure I saw right.

Jamari threw his head back and laughed. "You figured it out. It's that." He took it out of the box, and I held my arm out to him.Once it was secured on my wrist, I admired it, completely falling in love.

"Thank you, Mari. I love it."

He cupped my chin, and I leaned in and kissed his lips. Our tongues tangled together, causing moans to slip from my mouth. His kisses were addictive. It was something I couldn't get enough of. He had me ready to strip off my clothes and give him all of myself. Jamari had the power to make me feel things no matter where we were.

All too soon, he pulled away from me, causing me to grumble.

He laughed. "You'll be okay. Let's go hit this lounge up."

Once we had straightened ourselves in our seats, he turned the car on and adjusted the heat. We rode in silence. I kept touching the bracelet, happy with it. Jamari had made my night when he gifted me the bracelet. I'd forever cherish this night. It had turned out to be special.

One MonthLater

I thought I'd be having the time of my life tonight at work, but that wasn't the case at all. My stomach has been hurting all day. I didn't know why I didn't call out of work tonight. I'd be curled up in bed with Jamari, rubbing my stomach as he did all day, too. He sat at the bar with a glass of Hennessy on ice, making sure no man talked to me.

I'd soon be ready to take a shot with him. He had walked in and had everyone looking at him strangely when he came to take a seat at the bar. He was a regular and sitting anywhere else but where he usually sat raised red flags. I had no problem with Jamari seated at the bar, since I wanted my man close to me. The bracelet he gave me was on my wrist, too.

I ambled over to Jamari while he had his face buried in his phone, vibing to the music.

"Are you enjoying yourself? You rarely sit at the bar."

He lifted his head and gave me a lopsided grin. "I've never had a reason to until now. I still don't want anybody to say a damn thing to me besides you."

I shook my head. He was too much. A wave of dizziness hit me out of nowhere, causing me to sway. I had to grip the counter to keep from stumbling over.

"How in the hell am I drunk and haven't had anything to drink?" I questioned Jamari as if he had the answer.

He only stared at me with concern on his face. "Are you okay?"

I nodded. "I probably need a drink to loosen up."

The frown on Jamari's face deepened. "Are you sure about that? You already don't look too good, not to mention your stomach's been bothering you all day."

I nodded with a weak smile. "I'm sure I'm okay. Do you want to take a shot with me?"

He shook his head. "Nah, and I don't think you need one either. Why did you even come tonight when you said you weren't feeling well?"

Before work, I was over at Jamari's place. He never wanted me to go home, especially when I had to leave work in the middle of the night. Whenever he didn't come to the club, he'd still leave his house to make sure I got home safe. However, for the past week, I'd been at his place, and I never complained because I'd always wanted to be where he was.

I fanned myself as I felt myself getting overheated. My mouth began to water, too. Maybe Jamari was right. I didn't need anything to drink. Not with the way I felt. I pressed a hand to my stomach as a wave of nausea hit me out of the blue. That wasn't good. If I didn't make it to the bathroom, I'd be vomiting everywhere. I rushed away from the bar, trying my hardest not to bring attention to myself.

I quickly entered the bathroom and the first stall I saw, and I emptied my stomach. Jamari was behind me, rubbing my back soothingly.

"Yeah, I'm taking your ass home. I'm glad you didn't drink that liquor."

I was glad I hadn't drunk it either. No doubt about it, I was happy I had listened when Jamari told me not to drink. He had my best interests at heart, which was something I'd never take for granted. No matter what, he cared about me.

I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and flushed the toilet.

"Are you good now?" He helped me stand up straight. But the minute he did, I felt dizzy all over again.

I moaned and laid my head against his chest. "No, I don't feel too good. You can take me home now."

Jamari once again rubbed my back. "I got you. We'll take my car, and we'll come back and get yours later today."

The only thing I did was nod. He held onto my waist as I made it to the sink to wash my mouth out. Once I was done in the bathroom, I had to go talk to my manager to let him know I'd be leaving. He was a fair man and understood when his employers had to leave work. That was why I enjoyed working with him.
