Tyson wouldn’t be left alone for even a moment while he healed. It was their way. Of course, depending on how the situation unfolded, they might need to request a medical transport for him. If shit hit the fan, Tyson needed to be well clear of the action, which meant not at the Jerrick clinic since they seemed to be right in the middle of whatever was unfolding.

Ben turned to leave but found Koios behind him staring at the bed. He shook his head and looked up at Ben. “There’s been enough bloodshed.”

“And yet there’s always more.”

“I’ll come with you. I have an idea why Tyson asked for me, and you aren’t going to like it.”

Ben sighed. “Why doesn’t that surprise me?”

“Because you know I’m neck deep in this mess. Make your call, and then we’ll talk.”

Ben did as Koios asked. Augustus made plans to fly to them immediately. Ben asked him to keep the information quiet.

Augustus understood the implications. “No one has heard from King Silenus or King Consort Cosmo?”

“No,” Ben replied. “Or any of their guards.”

“This is bad.”

“I know. Hopefully we’ll have some news by the time you get here.”

“We need to let Sawyer and Nick know, Ben. My grandkids might be in danger again, and we need them to be ready. It’s not the first time fae magic has been used against them.”

“I’ll call Henry,” Ben promised. “And Uncle Solomon. We’ll have them under guard as soon as possible.”

He ended the call with Augustus and called Henry. His brother was as horrified as everyone else was by what the attack could mean to the stability of their realm. “If someone has taken control of the Unseelie….”

“Not someone,” Koios said. “Our favorite manticore.”

Ben froze. “What?”

“It’s why Tyson asked for me specifically. Well, that, and I’m going to be the one to go in there and see what’s going on.”

“The hell you are,” Ben yelled.

“Goddess you’re hot when you’re all protective and growly.”

“Do not flirt with me right now. I’m serious.”

“It’s not flirting if it’s the truth. And you know I’m right. Tyson sent for me for a reason, Ben. We both know it’s not because I’m pretty.”

“And on that note, I’m going to hang up the phone so you two can fight this out.”

Ben huffed and shoved the phone into his pocket. He’d forgotten he had his brother on the phone. It was Koios’s fault. “You are pretty.”

“Shut up. I’m handsome. Dashing. Gorgeous, even.”

“Pretty,” Ben said. “And I’ll be damned if I let you walk into the Unseelie realm alone.”

“I never said I was going alone.”

Ben let out a breath. “This is a bad idea.”

“It is. But if the manticore has somehow managed to gain control of the Unseelie, then we have to stop him.”

“Dammit,” Ben sighed. “The pack is going in. Logan will take you all in there and?—”

“We’ll need our favorite doctor to come along in case we need him.”
