“Love, we’re just having some girl time. We’ll be ready to go soon.”
There’s a short silence. Matti’s voice is strained. “Who’s ‘we,’ Siena?”
“Giovanna. Me. I’m assuming you.”
“I’m not taking her out of the safe house. Tommy would lose his shit. And he should. It’s his call, not ours.”
I scowl, giving Siena a look that says he’s insane. “It’s actually my fucking call,” I stage whisper.
She covers her laugh with a cough. “Matti, I’m going to call you and—”
“Siena, I swear to fucking Christ if you do not get your ass out here right now, there will be mother fucking consequences. Do you hear me?”
She sighs. “I need you to calm down.”
“Siena—”
“I’m serious, Matti.”
“So the fuck am I.”
She turns to me, lowering her voice. “Grab a bag. You’re coming with us until Tommy gets back.”
I nod, happy to comply. When I return, Siena’s still at the door. When she sees me, she taps on it. “Are you calm, Matti?”
His reply is a low growl. “Siena, you and I are going to have a very serious conversation about your punishment when we get home.”
She smiles. “I expected nothing less.”
I glance at her and grimace. That I did not need to hear.
“Answer your phone, Siena,” he orders.
Her phone buzzes, and she laughs softly as she answers. Matti’s voice is so loud, I hear him through both her phone and the door.
“Are you out of your fucking mind? Do you understand what you’re asking me to do? This is none of our fucking business. We cannot take Giovanna out of her safe house without talking to Tommy first. He’s going to lose his mother fucking mind.”
“Giovanna can do what she wants,” Siena snaps back.
“FUCK. I’d kill Tommy if he took you out of my protection.”
“Our penthouse is reinforced with—”
“I know what it’s reinforced with. The drive isn’t protected. And Tommy—”
“Okay. Then I’ll stay here then,” she says sweetly.
She smiles at me when Matti huffs out a deep breath. “You know that’s not fucking happening, Siena.”
“Great. We’ll see you in a minute.” She hangs up, smiling brightly at me. “Ready?”
I give a short nod, gripping my bag tighter.
She watches me for a long second. “You sure you want to do this?” she asks. “We can call it off.”
“I want to do this,” I say firmly. When I come to Tommy with this pregnancy, I want to have all the answers possible.
